Re: Dobson's article

I find the notion of "development" somewhat disingenuous when organizations like the OSA and their member clubs currently put up political roadblocks to prevent kids from playing.

Players that train with private academies, who ironically have been following the model that the CSA-OSA is trying to copy, are not eligible to participate in OSA sanctioned District or Regional teams. Instead, players are only eligible if they have registered with a club team.

Is it about player development or collecting the fees?

Vote coming soon, I'm told. Hopefully, they do the right thing for both "kids and country" not simply "club and country"

Kind of suprised that the fluff piece in the National Post centred on Paul Beirne wasn't posted.

So is the new narrative going to be 'who cares if we suck this year because other teams that really sucked were awesome the next season"?

SSG: Looking good:) Aside from that on facebook links it says Seinfeld actor shoots himself after learning he would have his toes amputated. Horrible, he shot himself in the head and lived. Probably will need more than his toes amputated now. Sad.

On the plus side, after clicking on the link there was another link related to Seinfeld in which it says that Jason Alexander now wears a wig. Hahahaha. Classic.

I have seen KC mentioned several times as some kind of hope for the future but it's interesting that what is not often mentioned is the coaching change needed to accomplish that turnaround.

I have seen KC mentioned several times as some kind of hope for the future but it's interesting that what is not often mentioned is the coaching change needed to accomplish that turnaround.

What's more interesting is that the most recent KC coaching change (not the one way back) really didn't have a big effect on Kansas City.

KC got worse after the coaching change the rest of the 2009 season. Vermes had a worse record than Onalfo did in 2009. Then to start the 2010 season his team went 3-8-3 before a good run allowed the to finish better, but still more losses than wins. Then thanks to the long road trip to start the 2011 season, KC started 1-6-3. A poor start after a promising close the previous year (hmm, sounds like another team I know...)

I would say the Onalfo firing wasn't the big thing in the recent rise of KC: the big thing in the rise of KC was sticking with an unproven coach as he attempted to realize his dreams of how a team should play. Vermes's 2010 record was *worse* than Onalfo's best record there. And let's not forget Vermes has been actually employed by KC since 2006...

Just like Kreiss, Vermes started his tenure with years of MLS experience, many gained within the club itself, in combination with his playing career that took him from MLS to Europe and exposed him to orher systems of play. Installing him was more still a gamble, examples like this cant be used as evidence for anything, or every club would be screaming for an unproven coach.

Im convinced that Winter still doesn't know what MLS actually stands for, he has too much to learn about this league to justifiably hold the position he has, and his inexperience has been a glaring issue from the start.
