Maybe......sorry, not sure how to do hyperlink here:

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/1050883/raul-to-leave-schalke-at-end-of-season?cc=5901

Schalke striker Raul (http://soccernet.espn.go.com/player/_/id/11817/ra%C3%BAl-gonz%C3%A1lez-blanco?cc=5739)has decided not to extend his contract with the club and will leave the Bundesliga, and European football, when his deal expires at the end of the season

The former Real Madrid star revealed he has had "substantial offers from Spain" but having confirmed his career will continue outside of Europe, a move to either Qatar or the MLS - both of which have been mooted in recent months - appears most likely.

This was rumoured frequently in Marca. He will only go to NY, according to those stories.

Its awesome that these older great european players want to come to MLS, but im getting sick of them only wanting to go to New York or Los Angeles......

If I were to move to the US, I'd probably want those two cities, too.

It's because they don't take the league seriously and only view it as a vacation. Hopefully one day it will change and the players will actually care about winning the league instead of going to a glam city.

I believe Juanito dreams of having him at TFC, so he can worship him every week. g:D

Unfortunately, that's the way it is, and it isn't going to change. Either they get paid a shitload of cash to get them to move to the desert (Qatar), or the perceived lifestyle of living in NY or LA is what attracts them to MLS. Otherwise, they'd just stay in Europe.Thankfully, there are only so many DP slots allowed.

Jack I would probably have to agree with you for the most part. Myself, I would probably add Chicago, Seattle to the mix. Maybe Portland, San Jose or Boston in terms of MLS cities.

There are cities I would definitely avoid.

Mario Balotelli to NY Red Bulls.

Frank Lampard to NY Red Bulls.

Who else?

Didier Drogba to NY Red Bulls.

Shai Biruk to NY Red Bulls.

Here's one for Toronto FC, Emille Heskey to TFC.

Chicago is a fantastic city, but probably off the map for most European stars.

Can't stand the guy, but I think he would be a very effective DP in this league.

I've always thought of LA as being one of the most over-rated cities on the planet. Apart from the climate, it just doesn't hold much appeal for me. I can understand the appeal it might have for foreigners though - although most of that revolves around their visions of Hollywood and Beverly Hills.

He's likely going to Qatar.

EDIT: Very likely.

As long as it's not Raul to TFC he can go retire anywhere else...

With the upcoming retirement of Frings, it would be nice to map out some possible replacements..

Without Frings and like a lot of commenters Deguzman, we have not one, but two DP slots to fill for next year. I would mind a CB type from either Serie A or Dutch League

Frings and DK both signed for 2 1/2 years. I.e., they're here at least until the end of 2013 (unless something changes).

Glory hounds.

TFC will only get someone looking to continue his career outside of the limelight.

It is, but it's not NYC.
