I thought it was pretty clear that the Frings was not cleared to play by the doctors. So we won't see him today.

Erk..my bad. That's what happens when you read an article while still blurry eye'd in bed in the morning.
for some reason I misread these lines completely.

"While Winter suggested it was possible that Frings might be on the bench for Saturday's home game against Chivas USA, Frings thinks he needs more time.

I dont think anyone but Frings has the final say really, he has the pedigree to dictate when he feels is ready to play and wont risk his career
