Can't complain that the academy continues to churn out talent.

Voyageurs Cup: I said at the beginning of the year that Vancouver would take it this year. I still hold to that. That may be good news for a TFC needing no further distractions to the goal of making the post-season.

Winning the Voyageurs cup means we make the real play off, the Champions League.

It's hard not to agree with this. Although not making the playoffs in the MLS makes us a joke.

I love the CCL, but it's time to make the league playoffs before TFC gets a Leafs-like reputation.

Anyway, it's a moot point because I expect Vancouver to be in the CCL next, not TFC.

I don't dispute our position at the bottom of the rankings, but these are always quite a joke. Galaxy has 1 win in 4 league games, and only pulled together a tie in CCL. They are ranked 8th after previously being ranked 6th last week. Below them in 9th, unchanged from last week, is Colorado with 3 wins in 5 games.

I really hope we aren't rushing him back before he is ready. It could be worse if that's the case.

And confirmation that Vukovic was released.

John Molinaro ‏ @JohnMolinaro (https://twitter.com/#%21/JohnMolinaro) Talked to Rongen about Vukovic. Club decided to let him go after they got back from Orlando trip. #TFC (https://twitter.com/#%21/search/%23TFC)

I'll have a full story on this later today with explanation from Rongen, so look out for that.

As for Frings, I got the sense from talking to Aron today that he won't play Saturday (even though he said he could) and will take the extra precaution and give him another week.

That being said, you never know. Stranger things have happened with this team.

Interesting, guess he just wasn't good enough despite being the golden boot winner in CSL. And to think many people (including myself) had him pegged as a sure signing this year and had high hopes.

Not all good D-4 players transition well to D-1. That's true everywhere.

Interesting stat: Sporting KC hasn't conceded a shot on goal for an MLS record 245 minutes. Unreal.

It really bothers me that Teal "Benedict Arnold" Bunbury may get a shot at either the Supporters Shield or the MLS Cup. I wish him nothing but failure.

yeah, I'm in that camp too. Although I was always someone who valued the playoffs and felt it was something worth striving for. I like CCL but not as much as the people who have said "playoffs mean nothing, play for the CCL."

Now that we've won the Canadian Championship more than once, and we've advanced from the group stage.... and we've passed the quarter finals (something no Canadian team has done before), we need to focus on the league. I don't believe this team is good enough to have success in both competitions.

This team didn't have the RSL-like build up, whereby they were decent in the league and from that they qualified for the CCL. Instead, it was like getting thrown in to CCL before having solidified its league standing (kinda backwards).

Without the CCL to worry about, the team would actually get a week's rest between games, which is normal for most MLS teams that are only involved in league play. Our best starting eleven would play each week at 100%. i think people underestimate this factor over the course of a long season. Then hopefully it leads to our first league playoff game at BMO, another achievement to knock off the list. And I sure wouldn't complain about winning an MLS cup ;) After that we would see CCL championship as our next major goal :)

Of course the Voyageurs Cup is mandatory -- so I'd play all the kids and reserves (Stinson, Roberts, Henry, Burgos etc). Give them a shot.

Another big detractor around our 5 games in 14 days was the inability to get a good set of practices. You have to factor in travel and fatigue too which means practices are either fewer or at less than 100%.

Perhaps a good idea, but we know Winter won't rest players during the VC, he'll play the best squad etc etc etc., and then he'll worry about the weekend game afterwards...
