Don't like the sound of that. To the TWITTER!!!!

@LukeWileman (https://twitter.com/#%21/LukeWileman): Stefan Frei leaves the field on crutches, wearing an air cast left leg. Doesn't look good. #MLS (https://twitter.com/#%21/search/%23MLS)

Sounds like a season-ending injury, sad to say.

Why?
What other info do you have...?
I hope its not the season... :(

I mean, an air cast can mean a fractured ankle, 6-8 weeks...
And, ask most footballers, they'd rather break a bone than strain/pull/tear a hamstring like Frings has done...

Injuries happen.

We had a ton of good luck against LA.

Air cast and crutches can mean a severe ankle sprain too. No weight bearing is standard treatment. Weight bearing in the early stages of a severe ankle sprain correlates with longer recover time.

So sorry to hear, never like to see someone go down. I assume either Chad Bush or Quinlan Roberts from the academy will serve in the backup role.

A broken foot is probably the best case scenario given the circumstances. Frei could potentially be back within 8-12 weeks.

Sounds like a sprain to me. Depends on how bad it is, if its a grade 2 spain or higher he will be out for a couple of months. I did the same thing last year and it took a while to heal, then I had one game back and did the same thing again, and was out for 6 months! It's best not to rush that type of injury, sprains are often worse than breaks in healing time.

Good thing we have two great 'keepers. When one goes down, no worries (unless Kocic gets injured, as well).

I think the primary transfer window is still open until April 15th? The problem with any kind of a transfer fee is that it counts against the salary cap.

We're supporters.... we gotta blame somebody or something. Did the groundskeeper not properly maintain the turf? Was De Klerk working them too hard? Was the new GK coach making Frei do something unsafe? Was a bit of 2006 plastic pitch somehow left over? Did a reporter distract Frei? Did Adidas make defective boots?...

... or is it as some have suggested that the club is somehow cursed and destined to never make the post-season?...

Auzzy

^ Well, if it had been closer to the 6-yard box, we could have blamed the sleeves for the rugby goals. No such luck.

Seriously, I feel bad for Stef, but Plata must feel awful as well. Although there was no contact, just being involved & close to the play must make it worse.

I had heard it alot was more then just a strain... A break, that may/may not be quite bad. Think for a moment at whats been reported.
-Players on field distressed
-Media asked to turn cameras off
-JDG right away motioning for privacy
-Hospital treatment

For a club to schedule it's own individual conference behind it, I would suspect we're looking outside a strain. I'm going to guess and hope that I am horribly, horribly wrong - Ankle dislocation/Compound fracture of the tibula?

Regardless of the quality we have in goal, A gentleman & upstanding ambassador of the club such as Stefan is surely unlucky to sustain such an injury.

Speedy recovery Stop Sign!

As long as there isn't any ligament damage, this is ok news, a straight break isn't the worst injury ever.

But get well soon Stefan!

Well, I have to ask, what ever happened to Adam Street, Josh Wagenaar, and the teenager from Ontario that joined either Chelsea or West Ham. Where are they now?

I'm clearly generalising, but in my experience a straight fib break isn't as bad as ligament damage, that's all I'm saying! There are obviously some different cases sometimes!
