Seattle and Portland have brought TIFOS in MLS to a new level while Toronto fell back last few years. But last nights TIFO and banners at Sky Dome was great, showed we still are one of the best supported teams in the League.


Also MLS is getting better and better, up there with many in Europe. Some teams in MLS even got better atmosphere then 90% of the games in England now a days. Its great to see!

I think that part is, but it was stadium wide tifo. I can't find any good photos or videos that show off the whole thing. It was kind of ruined by the fireworks and smoke from FO.

they showed the drum on tv it is rigged in an aisle and horizontal...on an angle....pretty big and as mentioned just seem to beat ...1, 2,..1,..2 like a march...it doesn't seem to block anyone just take up width......they have fun thats for sure....ps great game

Seattle's and KC's should also be good. I've noticed Seattle's home opener tifos tend to stand out the most, aside of course, from their tifos against Portland which are of the highest standard (ex. Decades of Dominance)

I wonder if we'll see any smoke/flares in the MTL game. Both UM02 and Section 8 are notorious for their use of smoke/flares but seeing as they are likely to be banned at the Big O, it could land them in hot water with MLS.

To what jazzy said: Id say yes if LA sold out the 7,000 tickets in 1 day then they sure could of got more fans but someone on this board said that LA was even having a hard time selling the full 7,000 tickets after being on sale for weeks. And LA play in a 28,000 seat stadium, if a team could sell out a stadium they would, no owners say oh id rather not make money off of ticket sales, instead i will just keep this game for the hardcore fans and treat them to have the whole stadium to themselves, that just doesn't happen.

We can have good flags, banners and jumbo banners covering the South and North End for Tifo displays or like the very impressive Sky Dome display. But teams like Portland, Seattle, Philly, Chicago, even NY are now pulling off card displays, some very impressive ones, and we still can't even come close to doing one because Toronto fans have a bad habit of showing up 10mins into the match. Why doe's this happen?? other stadiums are full at kickoff, where the hell are our fans? buying food? getting cash out? still at the pubs? i really don't know why this happens at all sporting events in this city and wish there was a way to get fans in before kickoff to pull one off for once!

in my opinion columbus supporters are under estimated in MLS because they get 10k-15k in there stadium. Yes they don't have the biggest attendance numbers, but the supporters section is often pretty full and honestly have one of the loudest groups once they get going. Theres some videos on youtube of there fans singing thats alot louder and more organised then us TFC fans.

It wasn't really general admission (even though some of us treated it like like it was). As long as you have section, row and seat numbers printed on tickets it will never fully work.

Agree. I made it sound very simplistic. GA and atleast two seasons of work to educate people is probably a better way of putting solution to this problem.
Skydome was not perfect (tickets had assigned seating and didn't say GA, plus fo didn't give the entire end to the supporters groups) but is was a step in a right direction, in my opinion. So is every time we had "GA" at the bmo for Canada game, not perfect people argued, but it looked and sounded better.
It's a cultural change and it will take time, unfortunately i don't think we are even at step one yet.

i did say we should have general admission few years back. Would change the atmosphere for the better, would let fans get better organised from Tifos, flags displays to even singing louder. And i dont think it would be hard for TFC FO to change either...every ticket in the South End just needs to say General admission instead of a seat number. But i don't think TFC FO are really that bothered to make the change, its sad really. Some fans also might not understand the general admission at first as seems some people are just stuck on they have to be at a located seat like all other sporting evens in the city, but after a few games i think most people would understand it.

one problem with our GO Train is the times. The train comes once an hour (don't even get me started on how pathetic that is that a major train route is used so rarely) but the times, some people have the choice of getting to Exhibition an hour and 10 mins early or arrive 10 mins late, not everyone wants to hang around for an hour and 10 mins, specially when the weather is cold, rain, or windy. So they rather be 10 mins late.

Ah, that explains it. Like you, I'm baffled that a major city, Canada's largest in fact, has train service every hour. I know it's the weekend but do they not know or care that people are attending sporting events and other forms of entertainment on the weekends? Or is this a cost-saving measure? Seems kind of ridiculous.

Yeah, the bars could be closer too but the Ex grounds are sort of isolated. As you said though, it would be a lot worse if the stadium was built in the suburbs of the city.

what he said. on saturday my girlfriend turned my alarm off so i woke up at 1040, was late for some work i had to do before hand, kinda spiraled from there. if i had more time i couldve caught the 11 train and drink at joes pregame, but i had to hop on a train running 6 minutes late that showed up at 1:06. surprisingly i still didnt miss kickoff.

I guess we are getting off topic but it is such a sore spot for so many of us. I can't stand the GO train and the fact that the schedule is only every hour which also causes extra crowds for when the trains do come. Too much anxiety trying to make it because you know the next one is an hour away. I would probably would take it every time if it ran more since I live pretty much beside the Ajax GO station and would make the most sense coming from Ajax. In the end I drive down and my wife always bugs me because I want to leave 2 hrs before game time but it is the only way I am relaxed plus I actually like to sit in the stadium early while they are warming up and all that plus be part of whatever is going on that day. Don't think the GO will ever listen. I was amazed they even added the extra trains for the CCL game against LA.

Portland & Seattle are in a class of their own when it comes to tifos.
Their latest one is amazing. 20,000 sq ft, 1500lbs, 66 rigs :yikes:

they've got access to huge storage facilities
their stadium wide card tifo only took a few hours between a few guys to do it.
i wouldn't be suprised if this took them three maybe four weeks to do
