no mention of this game on FAN590 this morning. I guess if it's sold out there's no need to promote it, and if you have no insight you can't really talk about it...

Jeff Blair devoted a good chunk of his air time to the game yesterday morning.

thank god they mentioned this:

Supporter Songs & Chants
With an expected crowd the size of two BMO Fields, a letter has been posted to Toronto FC fans, presumably from one (or all) of the supporters’ groups, encouraging them to learn songs and chants that may be foreign to many attending Wednesday night at the Rogers Centre.
Those interested should be forewarned that not all of the language is family friendly, but can be effective in getting behind the Reds on Wednesday. The document, with linked YouTube aid, is available here (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1SkqrWdGpqzqbuBR1hWd3qnk61BsLhBzWdUEQ19zDq5c/edit?pli=1).

You tell them Frei!

For those fans who still believe the Vancouver Whitecaps should be the ones hosting the LA Galaxy in the CCL after the postponement that occurred in the final of the Canadian Championship last year, Toronto FC goalkeeper Stefan Frei has these words for you: “It’s always easy to talk trash in the end. (http://www.lfpress.com/sports/soccer/2012/03/06/19464591.html) It’s best if you give it your all and win so you don’t have to look to excuses.”

sure Seattle.. sure..

So how does Seattle GM Adrian Hanauer explain the fact that there will be 45,000 in Toronto for a CCL match while 18,500 have tickets to Seattle’s quarterfinal against Santos Laguna? Read what he says here about the “American sports conscience” and how “Toronto haven’t had a lot of big games lately.” (http://blog.thenewstribune.com/soccer/2012/03/05/why-are-twice-as-many-toronto-fans-attending-champions-league-quarterfinal-than-seattle-supporters/)

^^ LOOOOL at the excuses. I really hope TFC wins this match/series. Even if I were a non-partisan outside observer I would want TFC to win this just because it would feel 'right'.

Local interest in Seattle will dwindle over time like it did in Toronto. Once the big hype is over about the new team they will see less people coming out. I am sure they will keep a respectable amount of STH's like we have but they are a couple years behind us in terms of hype from a new franchise so I fully expected to see stuff like this continue to happen and the same will happen in other expansion cities. Funny how Hanauer says we haven't had Champions League play here before. Playoffs...well we all know about that. Maybe he should check his facts before speaking. In the end who cares about other cities...my team is TFC and we have a big game and people are showing up for it. Can't friggin' wait!

It's easy to criticize Seattle for this particular attendance, but lest we forget they just had almost 63k in Keller's final game in Seattle. Seattle has a couple of Open Cup trophies and several playoff games already under their belt. Let's see if we can fill the Skydome for our 8th playoff game first before we cast stones at Seattle fans.

Seattle's fans get a lot of press for their 40000-a-game league attendance... but I think this lack of showing for Champions league tarnishes their image as real soccer fans. They seem to be fans of hype. No hype? They stay home. What else do they have to do on a Wednesday night in March? there's no NFL... no NHL... no NBA in Seattle. They aren't itchin' to see the Sounders in a big game after the long offseason? Wake up people.

If that attendance tarnishes their image as soccer fans, what does 8k at our qualification games do for us?

Just to play devil's advocate - can we really say we'd be getting 45K tomorrow if we were playing Santos instead of a star-studded Galaxy?

In any case, I don't care - it's all about us, and I'm looking forward to hopefully one of the best nights in our history tomorrow. I could care less about the Sounders.

No....but I'm with denime on this one. I could give two massive dumps about Seattle. We shouldn't be overly concerned about what Seattle is doing in my opinion.....it is CCL Eve and we should be focusing on our match. Not what Seattle's GM thinks about us....even though he has a snazy first name. :)

There is something wrong when people shit all over tfc and tfc fo on tfc SG site, and it has to stop, one way or another.

We will have 46000 fans tomorrow, and that's only thing that counts right now, other MLS taams can go F*+kthemselves.

I have no particular interest in Seattle either. But a comparison was made in their attendance and it led to a reasonable and relevant subject that some may or may not be interested in. Is there anyone forcing the conversation on you? No? Then there is no forced participation is there?

To me it seems relevant since the attendance at the game tomorrow has generated so much self-fellating among Toronto supporters that we have almost forgotten there is yet a game to be played. It's almost become more about the experience than the game itself, lendence credence to the belief that a lot of the "hype" isn't even about the soccer itself.

Honestly, let's face it: a lot of it IS about the hype, and I don't think that can be denied. A lot of those 45,000 tomorrow are going because a) tickets are relatively cheap; b) the "star" factor of the team we are facing; and c) that this has been built up to be an "event" - and don't we all know about Torontonians and "events".

OTOH, I don't think it is so wrong to be excited about the "experience" aspect of the match tomorrow. A lot of us have dreamed about seeing a turnout like this for a TFC match for a long time, and now we are going to finally see it, regardless of the fact that more than a few people there may be so just because of the "Beckham factor" or whatever else. It also gives us a chance to see how loud we can really be in our support, with the roof closed, and hopefully really give our players a lift and strike fear into the opposition.

I for one, am unabashed about the fact that I am looking forward to the "experience" tomorrow as much as the match itself. I am looking forward to singing my lungs out, being loud, and being a part of what I think will be a special night in our history. And if any of those 45,000 tomorrow who may a) either be casual TFC fans; b) soccer fans who up until now had no interest in TFC, or c) people who had no prior interest in soccer at all and are there because it's an event, can somehow be converted by the experience tomorrow, then I think that can only be a good thing.

And I am ok with that. I completely understand. Why not get excited!

I only raised the other side of the issue when our fans criticize other fans for "only" having 17k in attendance for their game...vs Santos.
