TFC takes the field in less then 20 days... When will the broadcast schedule for TSN, Sportsnet and GolTV be released?

At media day I remember someone mentioning they should have it ready in 7 to 10 days, but still nothing at this point?

Would love to see TSN's complete schedule with Vancouver and Montreal, plus whatever additional games they want to pick up.

I was thinking this same thing the other week. You think this stuff would be sorted by now

The draft schedule is done, in fact its completely done...

The MLS and their TV partners are having their 2nd set of meetings in Orlando next week during the Disney Pro-Soccer Classic to finanlize, among other things, the TV schedule...

A leaked sched may hit the net before the meetings as it often does and the changes to that are minimal...

I'm leaving for Orlando Sunday night, there will be a release from the league and the broadcast partners (possibly even before these meetings) very soon with all the matches that are televised...

Looks like that time change for the Impact game came from TSN.

Noon to me seems really early. What does TSN have scheduled that they cant show the game at 1:00 P.M.

We knew this would happen when Bell and Rogers bought MLSE.

Watch how many games will be on SportsNetWorld / or SportsNetOne & GolTV which not all of us have.

Rumor has it that all the game will be blacked-out on MLS Live.

So can I assume the remaining TFC games will be on GolTV?

With the TFC Champions League games possibly being on Sportsnet/Sportsnet One?

As for TSN, 36 games with Canadian content is great with more US match ups being added later. It's great to see TSN really stepping up their MLS coverage.

This would be very disappointing - I know they did something similar last year as I was hoping to pick up the package and just happened to fall on that info.

^ Last year the TFC games which were broadcast on GolTV were not blacked out on MLS MatchDay Live. I watched most of the away games that were on GolTV that way. Fingers crossed...

I just got an email for a new MLS Live for this season... apparently can play on the ipad, which can be streamed through Airplay to Apple TV. I assume there will be an app for this, although it doesn't say in the ad.

The blackouts didn't matter for me, since I'm at just about all the home games, and when I'm not I have all the channels. What I like MLS Live for is out of market games, stuff like Portland and Seattle.

I hardly watch any television so it doesn't make sense to pay whatever it would cost per month for cable/satellite + GolTV or TSN2 or whatever just to watch TFC. I'd gladly pay the MLS MDL fee but those blackouts are a pain. So it's an HD antenna for me and the hope that CBC picks up a few away games...

The NHL CentreIce app looked good and I almost pulled the trigger on it. I think it had all the games except CBC on it for $40... if you wanted the whole league it was $100ish..

This season, TFC regular season games will be broadcast across three networks. TSN returns as the national broadcast partner and will carry 18 games between TSN and TSN2. GOLTV Canada will broadcast 10 games, and Sportsnet will carry six regular season games, split between Rogers Sportsnet One and Rogers Sportsnet Ontario.

I'm very happy that less games will be on GolTV, I figured I was finally going to cave this summer and pick the channel up but I'm fine with streaming 10 games.

Interesting that Sportsnet picked up a few games. Between us and Vancouver they will have just as much MLS soccer as TSN.

Aaargh, screwed by the May 5th time change. Bought us War Horse tickets as a present for my wife. Now the DC game will be starting 10 minutes before the show is over, and the tickets can't be exchanged.

I remember at the SSH open houses at the end of last year, they were hoping to have the whole schedule set earlier this year. Nada. Here are all the games that have been rescheduled:

- Saturday, April 7 at Montreal will now kick-off at 12 p.m. E.T.
- Saturday, May 5 against D.C. United will now kick-off at 4 p.m. ET.
- Sunday, July 8 at Philadelphia will now kick-off at 4 p.m. ET.
- Wednesday, August 15 against Portland will now begin at 7:30 p.m. ET.
- Saturday, October 20 against Montreal, now at 1:30 p.m. ET.

The match against Chicago originally scheduled for Saturday, July 21 at BMO Field will now take place on Wednesday September 12 at 7 p.m. ET.

For me, GolTV games were nice last year, because they didn't block those from MLS MatchDay Live, and I don't have cable. This year there are fewer on Gol TV, and those may be blocked as well.

Also, if you have SHAW or cogeco then your provider is not your owner.

If you have HD and Sportsnet One, I'd say this is a huge improvement over last year.Indeed it is. Last year 21 of the 34 games were on GOL, including 14 of the 17 away games.

This year only 10 games are on GOL, and only 5 are away games. So if you only watch the away games on TV, you''ll be getting 12 HD games instead of just 3.

And hopefully GOL will be able to get some carriage on various providers this year ... which seems reasonable given they are soon to be partly owned by Bell and Rogers. Sure I hear they can be watched on a game console of some kind (Atari or something ...), but I've seen another forum where people doing this are forever trashing how poor the picture is, especially in prime-time.

Even basic cable subscribers are better off this time, with 15 of the games on regular TSN and 3 more on regular Sportsnet compared to 13 last year on TSN (were none bumped to TSN2?).

AFAIK, basic cable doesn't include tsn it only goes up to channel 28 (in the GTA). So it looks like they only get three sportsnet ontario games again, all of which are home games. They will be able to watch a lot of whitecaps games though.

They will be able to watch a lot of whitecaps games though.Rogers most basic cable doesn't include TSN, but, it's still available on analogue cable and in extended basic. A lot of people get TSN (and channels like Space, History, Comedy, etc.). It has much higher penetration than channels like TSN2, Sportsnet 1.

Basic cable is a lot more than up to channel 28 these days ... probably near over 100 now for those who are on digital (which is all you can get new these days).

pdogg
02-26-2012, 04:33 PM
Maybe it's changed for analog basic, that was as of 3 years ago without having any set-top box.

When I look at Rogers website, the Digital Basic ($36/mo) still doesn't have TSN only the Sportsnet regionals. You need digital plus ($54/mo) to get TSN and VIP package ($68) to get SportsNet One and TSN2. Throw in your GolTV ($no idea) and that is quite a bit a month to pay to ensure that you can watch all the TFC games, and you may already be going to half of them!

I'd really just like to be able to play the local games on my ipad/computer using Matchday Live, but that doesn't seem possible with the blackouts. The LeafsTV ipad app allows you to watch all the Leafs games except for those on CBC and I believe is the same price as TFC, you just need to be in the Leafs region. And for around $120 (off of memory, i can't find it posted anywhere) you get the whole league, regardless of where you are. Seems like a much better set-up.

pdogg
02-26-2012, 04:42 PM
^^ flipping through a couple message boards, found out that the Leafs blackout all the local games on the Gamecenter Live (the more expensive one) because of their own LeafsTV Interactive (the $60 one). I still stand by the better option of LeafsTV interactive over what we have for TFC, but MLSE still shows it's true colours on the league-wide option.

Out of the 13 on TSN a good chunk were on TSN2.
Personally I wish for the days when they were on CBC. It was so straight forward then, and a bigger reach. This league is far to primitive to put on a some secular low reach channel to gain any traction to the masses.
besides. TSN didn't do much with the broadcast last year.
