Share any positive stories about inviting people to the CCL quarter-final match at the Rogers Centre. Are you bringing a dozen friends? Did that Eurosnob or Puckhead finally decide to take in a game? Share it here!

....

I'll start, I asked both my sons and they immediately said yes.

I created a Facebook page yesterday and invited my friends. I'm at 27 people already for the $19 tickets. Probably half have never been to a game before.
Can't wait!

The ones who aren't soccer fans are confused by just what exactly the CCL is. I don't understand what's so confusing. The friends/family I've asked all seem pretty indifferent to the game.

I've already blasted an email to all my friends and family who follow footy of any kind. I was able to get a group of 14 people together for the CMNT games at BMO.

My goal for this game is to try and get 20 friends and family out.

Im getting the Ryerson Engineers Student Society involved. We made it out to the TFC vs Red Bulls game last year. I think about 20 people showed up and that was with tickets around 30 bucks. If they get the cheaper ones itll definately be more people. Im also going to bring out some neighbourhood friends and the girlfriend and such. Going to be an awesome game :D

I asked my brother. I'm getting him tickets with me and my dad.
He's coming with his wife and 5 year old daughter and 8 year old son. He wasn't gonna come if it was at BMO, cuz he'd freeze and his kids would want out of there immediately.
My GF may come too if she's in town that day -- she wouldn't set foot in a freezing BMO Field in a million years. She usually only comes to summer games.

26 so far, aiming for 50 :D

I'm aiming for sections 126-128 to keep close to the SGs, but not to take up the space (I'll have some kids, and a lot of +1s in my group) while ensuring that I (and the other proper supporters in my group) can still yell and stand :D

Great thread, maybe the RPB Facebook page can create an event and leave it open for all members to invite friends. I'd forward it to my whole friends list....

In response to the thread, all my friends are currently TFC fans and will already be in attendance. I'll be reaching out to my brother and his buddies for support

i'll be sitting with the poeple I usually attend games with.
but I have asked my friends if they wanted me to pick up seats for them.
so far my dad has asked for a pair. he attended a game in year one, but our seats were in 110, and he didnt quite get the whole standing thing.
so i'll try to get him a pair in 200 level.
With the fair pricing, this is a pretty easy sell. However, many people I have mentioned it to didn't even know this game was happening. Once word gets out I think tix will go quickly.

The sections for the supporters group are 118-121. 117 would be a good choice for you being the same price point, you are right beside the supporter section plus you are where the Reds will be entering the field from.

all of you picking up tickets...what sections are you going for...sounds like a lot of interest but 118-125 (what has been deemed the supporters section) will only hold 1800 people give or take a few

this game could be one of the greatest events in TFC history....or a flop, lets hope for the first one.

The supporters will do their part, much however will rely on what the squad on the pitch does that day, hopefully Dallas was a turning point for this team and they won't disappoint. God I hope they don't lay an egg that day. The energy that has been lost for this team in this city could be reborn if they perform on that stage.

I hope that they invest (yes invest) in a very strong marketing program for this match. Print, digital, radio & TV should be heavily covered, and I'd like to see some slick TV adverts. If this is handled right, we will get a good showing, and a percentage of those attending the game will become net new TFC fans.

I agree. How hard could it be to get 50000 people in a 'special' event to see Beckham? I think we'll get a near sellout no problem as long as TFC advertises this come February. They should see this as in investment in gaining greater public awareness of TFC and hopefully creating new fans.

If you go by that TFC has in the area of 16,000 Season tickets sold and you factor in that people this morning have been buying 100, 50, 20 etc at a time along with the price getting to 50,000 is very much a reality and could get there quicker than most would expect.

As mentioned, this should probably go in the other thread. However, maybe things got messed up when your status changed & you had to be moved between mailing lists. TFC isn't going to purposely ignore any potential customers; your money is still legal tender even if you spurned their attempts to get you back as a SSH! TFC also mentioned that they've been having some email problems.

Check this info from here http://www.torontofc.ca/news/2012/01/ccl-ticket-sales-begin-monday

Season seat holders or members of waiting lists not receiving emails, are urged to contact their account representative or call 416-360-GOAL (4625) on weekdays between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET to update their information.

Thanks Auzzy. I didn't actually think MLSE as a company would refuse my money, but the woman I spoke to who was trying to sell me the seasons sounded really pissed off, and I wouldn't put it past her to delete my name from the mailing list and the waiting list (I was on the Gold). That said, it's more likely that I'm just the victim of a computer glitch.

I only brought this up in response to people who said this game needs some kick-ass marketing (which I agree with) to point out that I have not heard anything about the game.

I'm pretty pleased with myself. I sold 47 tickets. The great thing is about 2/3 have never seen a game before, and have three groups of families - wife, kids, everyone. They'll be in for a real treat! This will be a game those kids will remember, maybe even encourage them to keep playing. I found saying it's TFC's biggest game ever, it's like a playoff game, and the great $19 price for the 200s was all the selling I needed. I had more people than I could keep up with. Many were just never able to get tickets to a BMO game and always wanted to check it out.

I'm pretty amazed at the number of tickets fans have put together as group buys. I thought my 20 was a lot but I've seen up to 70 purchased.

If anything, this should tell TFC that their loyal fans are willing to do the marketing for them if they prices are right.

I think everyone who bought 20 tickets or more should get a free coke hand delivered by Tommy A at the game. :D

"The FO asked the supporters to step up and get the word out and the RPB did just that. Collectively we purchased x,xxx tickets in addition to our ssh ticets to help fill the dome."

KGH - 2ssh +6 additional = 8 total

Started with myself plus three - then got my SSH friends around me on board and got 7 each from two of them so i originally bought 18 - 35$ tickets.

Then grabbed 5 - 10$ tickets for my lil bro and his buddies.

Then got another 20 tickets in the rows behind me for 35$ again.

most have never been to a TFC game. but the news of a "playoff" game in toronto got them stoked!!!

And that was all it took.

I am excited. will probably sell another 15 by the end of the presale.

Quick update
53 Now sold

46 x $35
2 x $45
5 x $10

All that from the work of 3 ssh

Quick question,

Will those green seats be there at the game?

If not, we will be a far length away from the pitch. I have tickets in 125, row 1.

The ones who aren't soccer fans are confused by just what exactly the CCL is. I don't understand what's so confusing. The friends/family I've asked all seem pretty indifferent to the game.

yes, many people in North America only understand the Season followed by playoffs format like in NHL, NFL, MLB exc. they just cant seem to get there heads around a season with promotion and relegation, Champions Leagues, FA Cups, Carling Cups, they just often don't understand.

And then theres the people such as some Leafs fans who say soccer is stupid they dont even have nick names like the Leafs or Raptors ( ive herd a guy say that before), and "they have adds on there jerseys thats so stupid". Then theres Soccer fans who say "how can you guys have commercials during games", and why the fuck would you call your team something as stupid as "wild" "Blue jackets" exc ( tho some nick names they do have a point why would you come up with that name, lol). The never ending arguments that exsist between Hockey, baseball, basketball, football fans vs Soccer fans. Some just accept its just a different sport and do things different, some other fans in North America seem to almost be angry that soccer has different ways of doing things then other pro sports!

ya i said that wrong, there is lots of people who are fans of Leafs or other teams that also love TFC or soccer in general, but there is also quite a lot that are anti soccer as well for some reason.

Totally agree, but it goes both ways. Many espouse a soccer culture and seem unwilling to bend from their idea of what that is, which becomes divisive.

I definitely understand what you're saying. I'm a fan of multiple sports and have often heard the refrain "______ is stupid." It's just a negative attitude. I like to think positively as often as possible and see no benefit in trying to disparage other sports or their fans. Unfortunately there is a percentage of the population that is just negative in general. Nothing we can do about it but go have a great time and not worry about them.

already put a group together for section 115 regulars and friends (67 seats in 122).

Now putting a group together for Sean's Mississauga Falcons U12 Rep team. 39 seats sold so far -likely end up north of 80- for the 500 section behind the supporters section.

Last I heard we've got a group of 25 people going, tickets have been purchased. Missed the pre-sale to supporters unfortunately, but being there is the most important part so I'm just glad to be attending the match. Anyone else in/around 206?

Bought six for the upper bowl, so bringing some British mates who are new to the city, as well as some colleagues who are desperate to support TFC. They're also tagging along to away games. Great first game for them to go to.

Me and my regular game going mate however will be down in 124, screaming our heads off!

Im a little upset. Despite talking to a rep before tickets went on sale, and telling him how many i wanted (20) he was only able to give me upper bowl seats. So me and 19 buddies from work will all be up in the 500's

There's a lot of douchy soccer fans who are anti-NA sports as well so I would not get too bothered about any of it.

ended up with 2 groups
67 of us in the supporters section (122) - all BMO Field section 115 regulars with some guests
101 up in 524 from 2 rep teams at Mississauga Falcons.
I should add that I did not and do not plan to make a cent off these-all sold at face value to those buying.

total 168. Can't wait. I think I'll know a few people there!
