So the email just went out for pre-sale SSH details.

I think ticket pricing is extremely reasonable for the game.

19 dollars for midfield club level is a great deal.

SSH get a discount. Upper bowl is only 10 bucks and highest seat is 55. For a change, I'm impressed.

Yeah, prices are great. There are only two sections in the high end and they're $55 for season seat holders, $69 for the general public. That's a nice discount. Will be gone fast.

People should give MLSE a break on this one. They did it right.

Awesome prices. I can bring my entire family 5 tix, and extended family (prolly 5 more) at those prices.

My guess this was what MLSE was thinking all along. Regardless of motivation, they've priced it right.

Maybe people who have seen soccer at Skydome can make some recommendations on the best seats and views?

Here are mine.

I saw Celtic Roma at Skydome in 2004. Here is my video from my seats. I think I was about in the 10th row, probably around section 111. Personally, I think this is too low. It was still great to be close, but the ad boards are kinda blocking views of balls near the sideline. So I would suggest staying above row 10 if you're going on the lower level.

^ Thanks for posting that. Are the 200s actually better for the view? I was thinking 100s but I don't like to be too close. Like to see the play develop.

Red CB Toronto

Due to the multi-purpose aspect of Rogers Centre the 100 level has quite a gradual slope , not very steep at all. Especially if you are sitting behind the bench area it could block your view. I would not want to be below row 15 of the 100 level. The price in my mind makes the 200 level the place to be, great view I must say.

I saw an Argos game in the 200 level once, centre field (yeah, I went to an Argos game... it's the shame of my life!). That perspective was better than 10th row in the 100s.

Personally, I prefer the 200 level, since you get more perspective from being higher up -- but you're not massively further away from the field. Also, you only have about 10 rows in the 200 level, so you don't have as many people walking down the aisles all the time. The front row of the 200 level sections is the best in my opinion -- you're right on the edge. I would also recommend 500 level front row on the sides... you really see the formations that way.

I'm gonna try to get seats somewhere in 210-213 or 235-238.

I totally agree with you. If you really want a technical view and see everything as it develops the first row of the 500 on the sides would be ideal for you, a great way to watch the beautiful game for only a mere $10.

I wonder what the "NA" sections are for... visiting support? those would be good seats if available, particularly 222 to 226. Watched a baseball game from there a few years back, and it looks down on homeplate where the goal will be located. Very close view and good high-enough angle.

When I worked in the front office of the Argos we as they still do today only sold the lower bowl (100 & 200 level) which we listed at 31, 600 while the stadium overall was 52, 595. I really believe that with this pricing and the fact Becks will be here 50, 000 can be done. Look there are over 30, 000 seats at $12 ($10 for SSH). We have to paint the town Red.

It is the fact that 200 club members have first right of refusal on these, which for baseball are great seats.

Great advice in the thread re: sight-lines at the Dome. Thanks!!

They should instigate a voluntary charity charge of $1 at the gate if your shirt is not at least 25% red. Just imagine wall to wall red. Like the old "White Out" days of (the old) Winnipeg Jets playoff games.

I just got wind of the prices for this game.
Overall the pricing is good and not over priced.
However, the high end ticket of $70 and $60 lead something to be desired.
This may hinder a near sellout. I think they should have capped oout at $55. But fit into the grand scheme of things I'm not too worried about that as I wont be sitting there anyway haha.
I bet MLSE had to bite hard not to price the game like they do a the CNE. Kudos to them for resisting that temptation.

Yes I know that. But there are only what 16,000 of us?! and Skydome holds 50,000. The object of this exercise is to get people to a TFC game who normally don't go. And I feel north of $55 is a hindrance to that.

And with over 120 sections at Rogers, only two are at $55. Four are at $45 and ten are at $35. The rest of are $19 and less. The mode is $10.

Never heard of any downsizing of Skydome since it was constructed.
There is event max capacity so when they sell out they say the event sold out. It doesn't mean the venue sold out. A good case was UFC in April. It was originally low 40's, then upped once those were sold and capacity was upped once again to over 50,000. If there is demand, they will sell all 50,000 and 50,00 will be made available.

What drives me crazy is people complaining about literally everything. There are 15000 seats TOTAL more expensive than $30. And those 15 000 seats are going for less than the Jays charge for the equivalent views, and SIGNIFICANTLY less than the equivalent view at BMO. Just because it's more than you want to pay doesn't mean it's overpriced. A good ticket SHOULD cost 55-70 bucks. That's what sports costs in the 21st century. Don't want to pay for the good seats? Then don't. That's why they have cheap seats that are actually cheap (what those tickets SHOULD cost). I'd love to sit courtside at a Raps game, but the fuckers keep adding a zero to the price I want to pay. This is one of very very few times the TFC FO has really gotten something right, and they should be congradulated for it. I just hope the south end seats don't sell out before non season ticket holders and non SG members have a chance to get some. I've had a LOT of people ask if they can come as well.

I feel like the same thing that happened at UFC 131 (whatever the skydome one was) will happen here. They'll release 45k tickets off the bat, if those move fairly quickly they'll release a few thousand more, then a few thousand more etc. Don't want to overwhelm demand with too much supply.

It's interesting what they're doing, allowing SSHs to buy in bulk at the discounted price. They really want a legitimate sellout weeks in advance, to build buzz and get the attention of the media outlets. It's smart.

It'll be interesting to see if it works. 50,000 seats is a lot of seats. Remember there are only maybe 100 active posters on RPB (if someone knows the number they can correct me, that's just my impression) - the fact that everyone here is excited and taking lots of seats, is not representative.

I have no idea if this will work. I hope so. Pricing is only part of it. Montreal packing the Big O in 2009 was different. It was a more fresh and more unusual thing, at our game people in Toronto won't be seeing a caliber of soccer they can't otherwise see during the year, which was definitely the case in Montreal. That Santos Laguna game had more of a "once in a lifetime" feel than our game does.

I wouldn't underplay that one ... it will be interesting to see how the local media play it if there is an announcement soon about him signing with Galaxy.

What drives me crazy

Good points. There's no reason to even comment on the top prices for two sections. It absolutely irrelevant. The people who can pay top prices won't blink an eye. Everyone else doesn't give a shit and can find a seat at a lower price in almost every other section of the stadium. In no way does that top price dissuade anyone from filling those couple of sections.

Wasn't saying no reason to comment on it, but the prices are less than the going rate for the equivalent tickets for any sports team in this city. On every angle this is the cheapest real sporting event this city has had in a LONG time. The most expensive tickets are WAY cheaper than normal, the mid range tickets are WAY cheaper, the cheap tickets are WAY cheaper.

For Argos games there are 8 premium sections (the same ones, behind the benches), that right now go for $731 as a season ticket. That's for 9 games, which works out to $81 a ticket. To watch the Argos, and that's WITH a season ticket holder discount. To say $55-$70 for those same seats is overpriced is a bit ridiculous. Complain about the state of sports in Toronto, and how expensive all entertainment in this city is or whatever. But $70 straight up to sit in the best seats in the house is unheard of in this day and age. (Those Argos tickets straight up would be over $100 a ticket, I think it's a 25% markdown for SSH, though my family gave up our seats a few years ago so I don't know if that changed). I certainly can't afford those seats and will be getting cheap ones, but that doesn't mean they're overpriced.

rocker

Yeah, what I'm getting at it is that 'overpriced' is in the eye of the beholder too. The kind of people who buy seats in those locations will NOT see $55 as overpriced. It will not dissuade them from buying those seats. The people who buy seats in those locations will probably not even care what the price is. If those prices were $45, would the person now say "wow, I will save $10, I will now buy those seats." Of course not. They pay $10 to the valet for parking their car ;)

And I don't even think $55 is that much, as you say. I paid $45 for a seat to see Bon Jovi at the ACC earlier this year. And my seats were in the upper deck there.

I also think that if Beckham does play there, you'll see certain obsessed Becks fans trying to get the front row in those pricey sections to be as close as possible to him ;) The rest of us will choose cheaper seats with better views.

Well.... Beckham won't be here in normal league play.... :hide:No need to hide under the chair. It's a real factor.

There's a reason why TFC's biggest ever attendance happened on a chilly mid-week April game. It was the only time TFC have played Beckham. And if it was still a factor only 9 months ago, I don't see why it shouldn't be a factor today, with much cheaper seats, and no weather issues.

It might not be a factor for many of those here (and while I'd love to see Beckham one day, I keep missing his games here for other events) it is a factor for many of those who are the targets to sell these extra tickets to.

Gotcha. And very true. So what you're getting at is that the hot ones are going to be in the expensive seats not the cheap seats?! damn it!

*aside, holy crap did concerts become expensive the past few years. I saw Metallica at the Dome in 2003 or 4 with Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Deftones, Mudvayne and another band or two. It was an 8 or 9 hour show, I got floors for $110 which I thought was RIDICULOUS. Watch The Throne floors were around $200 (maybe more) for a 3 hour show. It's crazy. If I'm protesting over anything being overpriced it's concert tickets. At least sports you always have the TV option.

Yeah, we'll see a LOT of hot women there in tight dresses sitting in the expensive seats.. just go down and say hi after Becks ignores them ;) I remember that summer game when Beckham came but didn't play. Sooo many good looking ladies there like never before or after.

Concert prices are going up from what I remember. I saw Page and Plant and Van Halen back in the late 90s at the Molson Amphitheatre and probably paid $30 for a decent seat.. I was an undergrad student who couldn't afford much more. Now those same seats would be $100.

Although I have to admit I paid $375 for floor seat in the eighth row to see George Michael. He hadn't toured in 25 years. I wouldn't do that every month or even every year, but I had the money so I didn't blink an eye. It was totally worth it and was one of those memories that I'd hold in my mind forever.

George Michael can charge that much?! God damn! Van Halen re-united the other day in a 400 person venue in NYC and charged like 1/4 of that. There's some concerts I'd pay big bucks for, but it's practically extortion at this point.

The supporter section in the south end of the Rogers Centre is actually sections 118-125. 118-121 are held back for sale only through the supporters club RPB, USector, NÉE etc. I am not sure if any other part of the stadium will be supporter friendly in terms of standing.

this is an interesting point. It will be interesting what kind of crowd we have, and how a full skydome reacts to the energy created by the south end.

I was at the past couple of bills games here, and the grey cup. All of them were sold out, and all of them had a crowd that spent the majority of the game sitting on their hands.

I know the supporters, and their friends will bring it for this game. But I am curious to see if that energy will spread through the stadium, or it will be restricted to the south end.

Once the media get behind this and word gets out the game will sell out. But a sterile crowd out is irrelevant to creating a homefiled advantage.

In terms of the crowd and how they will react in terms of being loud, getting into the game, lets all remember now that apart from the supporters section at BMO, the other sections are very quiet no different than any of the other pro teams in Toronto. I sit in section 225 at BMO and people sit on their hands, no different than say a Blue Jays game. Years 1 and 2 even the non supporters sections were a bit more lively, however the past few years the non supporters sections have been very quiet, I mean I can remember chants like " this is our house" being chanted even in my section in years 1 and 2, however, the past few seasons have been very quiet in the non supporter sections of BMO, so I see no reason for anything different from the non supporters section at the Rogers Center.

There's been no indication that season ticket holders will pay that. They haven't been charged that when they've purchased through the TFC website previously.

And if your going to buy the $12 tickets through Ticketmaster rather than the $10 tickets through the club, then the "rape charges" are a whopping $3.50 as listed on the Ticketmaster website - http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/10004823DD238F24?artistid=1110670&majorcatid=10004&minorcatid=11

Is $3.50? That's one of the lowest Ticketmaster charges I've seen for a while!

I wonder how the ticketmaster system is going to allocate seats tomorrow when you go on the website. I find it a pain in the ass sometimes. You'll say you want "200 level" and then it'll just give you the first 200 level seats it finds, which could be nowhere close to the actual section you want. I find for some American ticketmaster orders now, they have an actual map of every available seat in the arena/stadium, and you can zoom in and click on those specific seats. But ticketmaster Canada doesn't yet seem to offer that option.

Can we call in and deal with an operator or does the pre-sale stuff only work online? (that seems to be the best way to get specific numbered sections, not just price points or levels in the stadium).

If there is demand, they will sell all 50,000 and 50,00 will be made available.

keep in mind that a UFC cage takes up much less space than a soccer field. They fit many thousands of people on the ground level. If there were 50,000 seats for UFC, it doesn't mean we can have that many fot TFC (even if the demand is there)

eustacchio
01-08-2012, 12:11 PM
It all depends on how they configure their best available strategy for the event.

The pre-sale code should work when you call. Personally, if they don't have a pick-a-seat map for a show/event, I'll always call the box office. At least then you can ask about specific sections. (Actually, I'll usually go to Rotate This, a fan site or the venue's site before I go to ticket master.)

ps I work for a ticketing software company.

Sorry, not sure which part you don't understand?

Probably if you're buying via the regular Ticketmaster pre-sale website, the max number of seats you can select at one time is 10. However, you can purchase multiple batches of 10 (or less) tickets within one sales transaction. Add the first batch of 10 to your shopping cart; go back & select more seats & add to your shopping cart; and repeat, up to a max. of 50,000 total seats. ;)

Now what I'm wondering, how to get more than 10 together? Hopefully we'll have some control over sections for the tickets, to at least get the groups of 10 near each other.

That's also why I was wondering how the group sales will work, if someone wants to get way more than 10.

Maybe it's worth trying to get in touch with someone at TFC? They have a bunch of sections reserved for group orders (dark blue on the seat map). Maybe if your group is big enough, they'll give you a batch of tickets from there?

Apparently you can't buy more than 10 seats at a time through the Ticketmaster system. When you're buying, you'll have to do them in groups of 10 if you have more than 10 to buy. If you're doing a larger purchase you might want to call your ticket rep to arrange it. That's the info I got from PB anyway. I called my agent this morning to arrange with him. Well good luck man. You should get through eventually and there are lots of seats in the Rogers Centre so I hope you get what you need. Maybe I got lucky because I gave up on the online crap early when I found out I couldn't keep my group of 14 together in the same section. Closest I was able to get was two sections apart. Lucked out a bit: I didn't think of waiting for email or checking here for info, logged in to my account manager shortly after 11, found the purchase link right away, got the first row of Section 209 (10 seats), no delays anywhere, I could have purchased lots more if I needed. (I needed seats & not standing due to some of the folks coming with us.)

Someone asked above: the "4 minute" and other time limits set at various spots in the website, are to prevent people from tying up tickets & the whole website for too long w/o making a purchase. It's standard Ticketmaster practice, and makes sense, even if it can be annoying at times. (The Account Manager is actually run by Ticketmaster -- and I was very happy to avoid all fees.)

When I started searching within the green 200 level seats I was getting both sides of the stadium equally and that was actually what prompted me to call my rep because I didn't want to split my group on opposite sides of the stadium. Maybe they have a different strategy for the lower bowl seats.

Technically, you can't really stop them. These are season ticket holders at the end of they day.

If I had more disposable cash, i would snatch a bunch up and sell them at cost, just to spite these scalpers.

People on the U-Sector board were able to buy in 121 via the website.

Even though I am quite happy to be sitting on the 200 level on the side that is bull shit that supporter group sections got released in this manner.

Ah.

Just saw Paul B.'s explanation on twitter though.

Something to do with aisles and what not.

Fml. Hope some of you guys make a few available. I have a feeling pretty well the entire supporters areas (if not the better part of the stadium) are going to be sold out by tomorrow, forget when the pre-sale ends. Well, great for the club.

I Wish there was a counter "35621 Tickets Sold" For example.

I bought 25 tickets for myself thus far.

I called in to buy mine in section 130

Cant wait for this game!

Exactly... The Dome doesn't have 'sections' they has 'Aisles'...

So 121, seats 1-10 would be the supporters held section - while 121 seats 101-110 will be supporters section that's open for purchase (or something along those lines)...

The whole place is going to be fun anyway. People that want to sit in supporter sections will surely be into supporting.

Embrace us 'non official' TFC supporters. We're good people too.

I went for the upper deck. 512, row 6. I love the view from up there. Also, my experience at the dome is that for one off special events it's rocking up there.

Super excited. I'm going to try to get the old school "Beat L.A." chant going. Simple but effective.
