Finally Toronto supporters have a GREAT selection of away days. What Away Games are you planning to attend in 2012? This list only includes clubs in the East with average one way driving time of 9 hours and only weekend games.

It's too bad that the Columbus game is on a Sunday at 4:00pm, instead of a Saturday at 4:00pm. I'm sure a lot of TFC supporters (who have Mon - Fri jobs) are unable to go now unless you call in sick for Monday...

So many great possibilities this year for road-games, however... there's also our first round playoff game during the first weekend of November, right?

The Montreal game on the 7th and the Chicago game on the 4th are high runners for me.

The other weekend games in D.C. and New York are also being considered.

Looking at DC in May and Boston in July right now. Outside chance for Chicago and New York.

Montreal for sure, and every year we head down to Boston so those are the only two I voted for. Would love to do 1 or 2 more this year (since we finally have a pretty solid selection) and Chicago is definitely an option, but I'm going to have some new at home commitments this year and I don't know how many I'll actually be able to make.

No.

Passports are only mandatory for travel to the U.S. by air. If driving or by sea to the U.S. you can use the new enhanced drivers licenses along with your birth certificate or a NEXUS card. That said, it's just easier with your passport if you're going to the U.S. so I'd apply for it if you do not have it.

RFK in D.C. is always a good trip... you can take public transit quite easily to the stadium... unlike many other venues like Chicago (Toyota Park) and Foxborough, Mass.

In K.C. the hotel(s) is right next to the stadium.

i cant wait for the Montreal vs Toronto rivalry but having 2 away games possibly a V game in Montreal and maybe even playoffs can make the amount of travelling TFC fans to Montreal alot smaller then we all hope for. Most people could probably only make the trip to montreal once a year and only so many TFC fans would actually consider travelling to an away game!

Ya, well, the April 7th game will be the only weekend game.
The other MLS game is on a Wednesday and the V-Cup games are on weekdays.
The only way we get another weekend game is if we face them in the MLS playoffs and thats really rolling the dice.
I think that most people who can only afford to go once to Montreal will pick the weekend game on the 7th of April, also the April 7th game will be at Olympic Stadium and the June 27th match will be back at Saputo Field.

Montreal and Chicago for sure....any other trips will depend on my work schedule and finances...

They finally got it right with Chicago, after two or three seasons of Sunday or Wednesday night games they actually give us a proper Saturday night game, and on a long weekend no less. I'll probably go Fri-Mon and hit the city hard (as well as the bottle)

For the people that have made road trips, how would you rank them? Which games should be at the top of our lists?
I know some of the visiting stadiums don't look like much fun to visit. And some cities provide a better travel experience than others.

I know some of the visiting stadiums don't look like much fun to visit. And some cities provide a better travel experience than others.

For 2012 i would put Montreal, D.C. and Chicago as my top 3 road trips with NYC trip is just outside top 3.

Montreal - i think the game in April is a must road trip for everyone. you can make it a same day trip and very inexpensive or stay and have fun in Montreal for a long weekend.

D.C - D.C. is a great city to visit for everything from football (stadium is nothing to look at but it works and DC has a very good support), nightlife is great and sightseeing is great. Another perfect long weekend trip for 2012. Also once in DC you don't need a car and megabus has some great deals (like $10 roundtrip) from Toronto to D.C.

KC - great stadium, great people, great food and on top of that KC is a city of fountains <3 . KC also has some good sightseeing. if you are driving 15 hour drive is not that bad or you can get some good deal to fly from buffalo. if you want to see KC you need a car, they have public transit, but it's not good.

Philadelphia - i have nothing good to say about Philly. The Dinning Car chocolate chip pancakes is the only highlight in this city in my opinion.

Boston - great city to visit, fun trip and i really don't like the stadium. stay in the city if you are going to boston

Chicago - same as D.C. another perfect long weekend trip for 2012 and this year Lollapalooza (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5hJHBUPjww)is the same weekend. unfortunately no megabus deals and it is better to have a car in chicago as getting to the stadium is a pain.

Columbus - fun road trip, i would go in October during a school year, make sure to visit Brothers Bar. Nothing much to see, stadium is okey, but nightlife is great. Shit club, but i like people and had no issues in Columbus.

New York - New York is New York, plus megabus has some great deal for this trip and you don't need a car.

If you have good traveling companions you will have great time visiting any on the cities/stadiums on the list above. Also keep in mind that you can make your trips very affordable (last year we made KC trip for around $140 each all in, Columbus trip was also $140 until we started to really drink at Brothers (great bar))

Hope this helps.

philly was alright...i might have been a little young for it when i went

new england was cool, just cuz patriots place was bouncing after the game, but going to foxboro really sucks

montreal is sick...well cuz montreal has some great night entertainment.

nyc is a great city; so much to do, haven't made the nyrb trip yet thx to weekday games the last 2 years

the rest of the cities (in the east minus houston and kansas city), i have been to, but not at a legal drinking age...columbus is by far the best city in America

My buddy and I were the 2 idiots that brought the Canada flag out.

Great stadium!

It was my first away game and frankly i didnt know what to expect. All the boys that came out to support were great! We never stopped the singing once.
It was nice that Eck came over at the end of the game to acknowledge us.

Looks like the time for the March 7 game against the Impact has changed from:

Will be in Montreal for the trio of games and DC, New York and the last game of the season in Columbus could also be in the cards.

I have already booked Mega Bus for the Voyageurs Cup match in Montreal. Leaving on the morning of the 2nd, at 6:30 am and leaving right after the game at 12:15 am. Great deal $34 return.

Good to hear others are going to the May 2nd game. I just booked a hotel for 2 nights for this one. Would've liked to go to the game next weekend but early April is a bad time of the year in grad school.
