Agree with everyone saying he's DP caliber. The valuation of $750K / year with two years guaranteed and two club option years seems to be the consensus and I tend to agree with that as well. This means that the we currently value a DeRo contract to be ~$3M.

If I were the GM, I would backload the contract with more of the salary in the later years, as per the norm with sports contracts.

Just for comparison, TFC's pre and post post Frings and Koevermans is:

Points per game before: 0.85 (29 points prorated over 34 games)
Points per game after: 1.15 (39 points prorated over 34 games)

This doesn't include Champions League. The numbers improve a lot when that is taken into account.

Still not playoff pace, but supports the "clear improvement" arguments.

Apologies for rehashing work others have also done. Roogsy done all this too.

For all the virulent arguing we do, it amazes me that we are actually closer to agreeing with each other than we care to admit.

While I don't necessarily agree with your conclusions on the DeRo saga... or Winter... or Hans Backe... or... ;)... I can't fault your passion.

I have to believe we care about the same thing which is seeing the team succeed.

Am I the dark one or the Mexican one?

Either way...I rock.

AFAIK, DeRo's immediate family is in the Houston area still, so DC would be an improvement in seeing them more often. It's pretty easy to fly from DC to Houston.

This was never mentioned in TFC propaganda because TFC was emphasizing the "home-town boy" angle.

I suspect that DeRo would prefer to be playing in Houston, but I'm pretty sure they've moved on and don't want him, otherwise they would have made the deal with New York. DC want him, so that's the best option for him right now, and they seem to want him quite a lot.

are you sure about this? i met dero on a number of occasions and each time he had either his wife, children or both with him.... and each time were at different times of the year.... anyways it dosnt matter to much..
