Reading Winter's comments about looking only to the Chivas game got me thinking -- should Winter toss out a reserve lineup for Saturday (including Avila, of course, since he can't play against Pumas?). The Pumas game is the biggest of the season, playoffs are out of reach. I don't think Winter will though. But it's a road game so he wouldn't be denying the home supporters any quality. The argument against this is probably that you want to keep the winning ways going and also don't want to gift a team 3 points when they are in a playoff race themselves (other teams may not appreciate it). But still...... they need fresh legs for next Tuesday against the speedy Mexicans.

great game and great atmosphere last night! My throat is killing me today. Morgan is really turning out to be a great academy product and the thought of what's to come from the academy in the future looks really promising! Let's go Reds!

I would love it if that happened. spare some people the trip out to LA and back, but I doubt winter will do it. He seems to like to keep going with his main team. Maybe it's just cos it's easier to evaluate players and judge if they're worth keeping that way, or maybe it's that he wants to keep a sense of momentum and familiarity. who knows really, but I've given up hoping that he will.

Moments before Toronto's goal, did you see Frings take the ball from central back almost into the mid/attacking mid role waving people to make something happen before he passed the ball off in frustration?

He saw, as we all saw, little creativity moving the ball. It was obvious that he was frustrated; I guess he felt he needed to be a one man show. The guy's on a whole different level (not that we didn't know that).

I saw that.......he doesn't seem to do that at all with Deguzman in the lineup. I like Dunfield, but felt he had an off night yesterday. Was very erratic and his passing wasn't that crisp.

I've never thought he was anything special, and last night REALLY added to that. He was an extra body on the field just to fill out a complete lineup. He didn't want the ball at his feet, that's for sure. He's a deeeeeeeeep bench player. Scary that he see's game action for Canada.

Let's see what happens with Dallas against Pumas. If Dallas beats Pumas, we'll only have to win against a Dallas team that will have already made the tournament.

MLS doesn't have the same rules about playing the first team all the time. Given the small squads, managers need the freedom to use their best judgement.

Before last night, I said 7 points would see us through, but tonights game is critical. Obviously a Dallas win or a draw is great for us, meaning we'd qualify for the next round with a win next week!

I agree Dunfield had a bad night, but he can be a very good ball winner in midfield at times...Johnson, Soolsma, and Milo also seemed slow and sunstandard for some reason...

am i missing something

people say if dallas beats pumas then TFC only needs to beat dallas. how??

pumas also plays tauro again.

so if pumas beat TFC and Tauro, and lose to dallas, they will still have 10 points, TFC will still need 2 wins to move on.

Toronto can't get two more wins if Pumas beats Toronto as you stated. We understand what you are saying (and it's true), I think you might have just garbled up your point a bit :)

There's more than just tonight that counts.

you are missing something....:)

Pumas only has 4 points. one win, one draw and one loss....a loss for them to Dallas and a win against Tauro will give them 7 points total.

EDIT - Oops....and if they beat TFC they will have 10...my bad.

Why make it so complicated. If Dallas wins or draws tonight and we beat Pumas at home, we are in. Keep it simple :) Will have to revisit after the game tonight....

As far I could tell that was directed right at Ryan Johnson. He motioned to him to continue into space on the left side and Johnson totally ignored him and stopped..retreated and turn back in towards midfield.

Frings threw his hands up in disgust and I thought..uh oh!

Then they scored and it didn't matter. Lol

But I'd imagine Frings had some words for him afterwards...and rightfully so. He's the general on the field for a reason. Nice to see the passion though.

One more reason why we need a competent leader for the centre of the back line next season, from today's storyon MLS.com:

“It's not my decision, it's the coach's decision,” Frings said through a translator. “I feel that the team likes that I play back there and we've been playing well with me back there. But at the end of the day, I am a midfielder and I'd like to play midfield again in the future."

I could here a whole bunch people yelling from the stands for Johnson to make a run, including myself. Was kinda frustrating, until a few seconds later when Koevs saved the day.

Johnson was not very impressive last night, nor was JDG.
