Criminal gangs are making long-term investments in match-fixing, purchasing clubs and organising referee training camps as part of their infiltration of soccer, FIFA's security chief told Reuters in an interview.

Eye-opening stuff, and not at all unbelievable.

I figured it would be some countries in Africa, Asia, Central and South America. In reality this is similar to the way that regular commerce works. Where you bribe some official from a less wealthy country in order to get what you want, whatever it might be women, drugs, diamonds or oil.

This reminds me of the Italian mob movie I saw recently, "Gomorrha". Specifically, the part where they hire the African immigrants to work in the toxic chemical dump and the garments factory with all the Asian counterfitters. Great flick.
