Sepp Blatter is seriously considering a motion to quit as FIFA president in two years rather than serve his full term in office, according to ESPNsoccernet sources. (http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/956445/sepp-blatter-considering-stepping-down-as-fifa-president?cc=5901)

A clandestine deal is believed to have been struck between Blatter and current UEFA chief Michel Platini, whereby the incumbent boss of the sport's governing body will hand over the reins two years early instead of enduring a growing chorus of discontent from within FIFA.

This gets it's own thread. With any luck he won't last out the two years, and he'll hopefully take his cronies with him.

This, no doubt, is in order for him to avoid being hoisted on his own petard.

Earlier this year, ESPNsoccernet broke the news of a deal between Blatter and Platini, involving the Frenchman delivering the European vote for Blatter in the most recent FIFA presidential election, in exchange for Blatter handing over power after this term had concluded. It now seems two of the most powerful men in world football have sought to bring this agenda forward.

Um, shouldn't there be an election ? Oh, wait, nevermind... we're talking about FIFA.

Well, perhaps the pressure stepped up by the likes of Transparency in Sport and ChangeFIFA, plus all the open fronts on corruption have made the old man think about sneaking out the back door with his sack of gold.

It's a start. It's not completely satisfying, but it's a start.

Two years should give him enough time to hide away all his skeletons, reform FIFA, and retire gracefully with his reputation intact.

puke.

Blatter Rubbishes Reports Saying He's Ready to Quit FIFA Presidency Early (http://www.worldfootballinsider.com/Story.aspx?id=34656)

We knew it must be too good to be true, eh ?

FIFA president Sepp Blatter has described as "pure nonsense" reports suggesting he will step down in two years time to make way for UEFA boss Michel Platini amid concerns over his leadership of world football's governing body.

Still, it wouldn't be Sepp if he didn't refute this report. I reckon what with all the shenanigans going on over at FIFA he'll be out soon enough anway - either of his own volition or otherwise.

The suggestion that I intend to stop my four-year mandate before its end is simply ridiculous.

Is he aware that most people think he is an untrustworthy weasel?

Or did he spend his ill-gotten loot to purchase a device that shields him from all the negativity?
