Onward to Mexico City!

A draw would be a good result, but let's hope that Pumas still has that some sort of weird CCL disease they've been suffering and the Reds get 3 pts!

A victory for the Reds is pretty realistic when you consider that Pumas has been fielding a reserve/academy team in the tourney so far.

I think we can pull of an upset and win. Anyone know the ruling in the CCL regarding backup goalkeepers? I know in MLS they will get us a guy from the MLS pool if Frei is out for a bit to back up Kocic but wondering about CCL since rosters are declared at the beginning. We could potentially have no backup to Kocic if anything happens.

You can play academy players in the CCL, so I imagine that our academy GK will be the backup.

I'll be optimistic and say the Reds pull out an unexpected 1-0 win. The more realistic side of me is hoping for a draw.

Video I toke while I was down at pitch level during the Pumas UNAM / FC Dallas CCL game in Mexico City in August.

Their attendance was half of what they usually get for league games (just like us), but it gives you an idea of what we'll be facing.

No freudian slip at all. I was at this game while visiting family down there who are connected with the team.

Kevin Hartman was quite the character. Got mad at the ball boys quite a few times.

I wouldn't count on all the teams doing that. Pumas is desperate for a league win at this point. TFC needs to be prepared to fight all the way, as far as they go.

well, there's only 4 Mexican teams and the two I've watched (Pumas + Monterrey) have put out secondary squads. I am not sure what Santos Laguna and Morelia have done.

If these teams don't put out top squads in the group stage, there won't be many mexican teams left for the next stage of competition.

i was just going to say. even if they put their A-team out there, we have nothing left in the league. we need to go all in on this.

if we win and even if the torros beat dallas, we'd be two points up. of the third place team with two more home games to go and perhaps a meaningless (for them) away fixture against dallas during the MLS playoffs!!

also: are eckersly and frings suspended due to yellowcards? (might wanna rethink your startin XI) i think i remember them picking them up against dallas. i also know that theyre at 3 a piece.

Yea, he scored in a 2-2 tie against Milan at the San Siro. Lazio will finish 3rd this year in Serie A.

This is the big match of the group. A win puts us 5 points clear of Pumas and pretty much have the group with Dallas. I'm thinking a tie. 1-1, but who knows after that good performance in Columbus. Esk and Avila are going to be big loses in the line up thou.

I'm seeing Frings missed the Tauro game because of 2 yellows v Esteli - has 1 yellow from Dallas, so he should be good. Ecks got a red v Dallas so he's done.

I don't know about that. Dallas only beat them 1-0. Those kids played fast and furious that game, I can see it overwhelming our back line. I hope Henry gets the start. A win would put us in excellent position to advance, but I'd be happy with a draw. 2-2 final.

Although at least now we have options. We can move Johnson wide right, keep Soolsma wide left and Koevermans should be ready to go up top again.

It won't be easy to earn a result tonight without Avila, Plata, Eckersley, and Frei. I would go with the following starting lineup...

------------Marosevic------------

Soolsma------------------Johnson

-----------Koevermans-----------
