people fall in love with this country. I'm not surprised he has too.

That was a really nice article.

And let's not forget it's happened in Toronto too. Danny Dichio is a Canadian Citizen now, right?

LOL... I was going to make that suggestion!

If we can get poached, we should be poaching citizens from other countries. LOL

Oh brother.

I guess he won't be making your "too cool for school" club anytime soon.

Why not? He would be 33 by the start of the 2014 World Cup.

Let's not forget we've lost a lot of players due to their eligibility elsewhere. We would be stupid not to cap Hassli(at least for qualifying).

I think this team would make Hassli look like Miroslav Klose.

Nah, you're supposed to tip over police cars, beat the shit out of your fellow citizens and burn your city to the ground. So much to learn, Hassli.

I love that Hassli actually got into the Bruins-Canucks rivalry, haha. Nothing more charming than a European footy player coming to Canada, and not being afraid to immerse himself in the culture here, or make this country his home. Hassli has done both.

Didn't know it was a prerequisite to support/accept everything you post on here or the articles.
I'll remember that next time. ;)

it would be pretty sad of affairs for canada if we can't produce couple of decent strikers in 5 years

if he qualifies for and gets Canadian citizenship based on the same procedure as any other immigrant then I don't see any problem. It's the countries that speed up the process just for some Brazilian to get in their national team that piss me off.

Four weeks later he was in Los Angeles, en route to the ESPY Awards as a nominee, in a limousine with Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas, the most valuable player of the NHL playoffs and Vancouver’s nemesis. With tension in the air, Hassli turned to a dumbfounded Whitecaps official and in his mother tongue deadpanned: “Am I supposed to kill him?”

best paragraph!
