6 game unbeaten streak!

Let's just hope that the lads get the bad taste out of Panama to give 'er in Chicago.

I'm also putting my 5 game unbeaten TFC road trip streak on the line for this one! :D

We'll tie them. Just a hunch. Chicago is not the type to do so. :D

We have to win this. Time to set some real standards- none of the draw bs.

This should be our scale from now on against teams like Chicago, even away:

-Win - Acceptable
-Draw- Bad
-Loss- Horrible

Naahh.. was always supposed to be on a Sunday (I know because I considered heading to Chicago for the game)

Chicago played Thursday too, so they shouldn't have too much of a rest advantage.

Good thing Frings and Avila are rested and ready to go, possibly also Frei. We need to win this to show some improvement in class.

1-0 TFC, Johnson gets the goal.

1-0 TFC, Johnson gets the goal.

Ryan Johnson is quickly becoming one of my favourites... love the effort... love the aggressiveness...

Chicago is a decent team with terrible luck. The only question is how many goals with be scored in our draw.

DichioTFC

i'll say 3-2. This game can be a statement game for the team to show that we've turned the corner.

I fully expect us to fuck this game up.

So I hope this place doesn't go Section 8 in the event of a defeat.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/soccer/ct-spt-0821-fire-chicago--20110821,0,5283015.story

The interim Fire coach was asked if recent lineup decisions are based on this season's needs or if he already is looking ahead to 2012.

We're trying to put the best group out there based on performance, based on training," he said after Thursday's 1-1 tie with D.C. United (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/sports/soccer/d.c.-united-ORSPT00000428.topic). "You have to be realistic. They're all playing for jobs for next year."

This could be a good sign for FC Toronto (I'm just quoting the ChiTrib article). It seems they are already looking towards 2012.

Anyone know what TFC's longest unbeaten streak is? Cuz im feeling a 7th game, Chicago has been struggling of late. I expect TFC to come away with a 2-1 win.

dupont
08-21-2011, 09:25 AM
I'm gonna say a 2-1 loss. We have never been good on the road and our last game wasn't exactly a gem.
I think our team is much, much improved but it's hard for the best of teams to pick up road wins.

In the back of my mind though I know it is definitely possible to pick up a point or three.

I'm expecting a win tonight. Unfair expectations? Maybe. I don't care though.

TFC's all time record at Toyota Park is 3 draws and 1 loss... compared to other stadiums in MLS, it's a decent road record. TFC is also on a 4 game unbeaten streak vs Fire. TFC's all time record vs Fire is 3 wins, 4 draws, 3 losses. respectable (couple of those draws could have been wins...) fire is also on a 9 game winless streak in league play

Shakes McQueen

TFC on short rest on the road. Then again, Chicago are in a streak of futility, and on short rest too.

Hopefully the decision to not play Frings mid-week will pay dividends today.

I'm gonna say we win 2-1, unless our offense looks listless from fatgue or whatever, and then maybe it ends 1-1.

an advantage for us is fresh legs on frings and Avilia, both will make a huge difference up the middle of the park for us if out their hungry to get into action.

a big question is, who do you play tonight in goal if frei is healthy. Kocic has played extremely well for us coming off of his sotw. Do you like ride his momentum or do you bring stefan back in right away?

TFCDP
08-21-2011, 09:58 AM
^Hopefully Frei is healthy.. Kocic has been decent, but no way you play him over Frei if he's fit.

QSIM
08-21-2011, 10:20 AM
If Frei is healthy he will play. Kocic has done well but by no means has he claimed the starting role from Frei.

Fresh legs in our midfield and were in good form. 2-0 TFC, yes a clean sheet.

If Johnson and Frei are able to go, put them in (preferably Johnson as a second-half sub). But I hope Winter doesn't have any confusions about where our priorities should lie - CCL > MLS right now.

A lot of fans of other MLS teams are saying TFC are favoured to make it past the group stage of the CCL because they expect us to rest our starters for MLS matches. For what its worth.

Looks like Winter is going with a 3-4-3 formation, the same formation he used against RSL at home. Frings in behind Iro and Eckersley.

I think we're still playing a 4-3-3. The Chicago Fire twitter feed arranged the TFC lineup to make it look like Frings was playing CB, while the TFC feed has Stinson, Eckersley, Iro, Borman as the back four.
