View Full Version : Dirty racist douchebag.

I debated long and hard about posting this.

I did not post when I left the top of 109 due to the racism and homophobic remarks that I heard there, but I am now tired of it, and after my experience tonight in 112 I am speaking up.

I came really close to becoming violent towards the end of the match tonight. I am not a violent guy. My last 'fight' was in 1998, grade 10, when I just sat on a guy who attacked me until he calmed down.

Tonight though, there was a guy in about the 12th row of 112, fourth seat from the railing, who was repeatedly calling Frings a ____ German Nazi ____ ____. Fill in the blanks as you will, this guy did often enough with foul adjectives.

I directed many glares at him, while I thought about charging up the rows to 'teach him a lesson', for lack of a better phrase. Luckily (perhaps for us both), he left very quickly after the whistle, while I was wrapping up my flag. I really wanted to confront him.

If any anyone knows who this dirty racist douchebag was, please ask him to stow that shit for future games. His neighbour's said his usual seat is a few rows behind them and I cannot say for sure that he was in the 12th row tonight as I was in a randomly chosen row myself. I hesitate to describe him because I do not want to be misconstrued as a racist myself. I know others noticed him and were appalled as well.

I guess my plea here is for people to stand up to this kind of behaviour. Those nearest to him simpathized with me after the game, but only grinned at him while he was at it during the game.

What can we do? I really don't want to create a ruckus during or after the game, but I have had it with this shit.

Sorry for personalizing this, but I have uncles who were born because my grandmother was raped in Russian concentration camps during WWII. Not all Germans are Nazi and I have never heard that Frings was one. But I swear, racism in the stands must stop or this shit will get ugly.

What can we do?

Has that ever been done at BMO? With any success?

'hey, that guy is a racist!'

'yes sir, we'll kick him out now.'

No offense, it just does't seem that easy.

Plus, even if they kick him out, will they ban him? Probably not as he is likely a season ticket holder (i have seen him many times before) and then a) he is back and b) I have to be near him again?

Skeptical...

MartinUtd

I'd think they'd ban him. I remember the league said they would ban anyone spewing racism in the stands when Columbus was in the hot seat a few seasons ago.

That's ridiculous.

People say some pretty stupid things sometimes.

That guy should not be in 112.

We can't allow that sort of crap to take place.

Let's all vow to report this kind of behaviour in the future.

Ben - D.O.W.
07-21-2011, 08:14 AM
Also - why is he talking shit about our own players from 112? I mean what he actually said is pretty rough, and if it was about an opposition player it'd be bad enough, but why is someone in a supporters section yelling at a Toronto player?

Edit: also I'm not trying to say saying that stuff to the opposition would be okay, just that I can think of at least two reasons to toss him from 112.

Boondaddy

07-21-2011, 08:26 AM
Had I heard that, it would have miffed me as well. Yeah, I think everyone here agrees that we need to stamp this kind of nonsense out of 112 altogether. You can be rowdy, but you have to have some civility FFS!!!

SAY NO TO RACISM AND BIGOTRY!

Yagbod, the best thing to do is to report it. If security does nothing about it, you can follow up with FO because they do take that very seriously.

Is this story for real?

Pal, you need to be in touch with the powers that be about this where they can collect your account and the accounts of others in your area that saw/heard this.

Be relentless and encourage (next game) all of those near you to come forward and speak with the right people who can ban this guy permanently. He doesn’t just need to be banned, he needs to be charged also.

Get on this today, contact BMO security without haste. The longer you let this wait, the more likely it is he’ll be seen/heard doing this again.

Make it your mission today. One of the RPB cronies in here should be able to set you up with head office. Which one of you can help this guy?

Speak up.

Boris

wow - i didnt hear a thing and i spent part o fthe game midway in 112.

I can safely say that most here dont want someone like that in 112. As much as we dont own the section, things that happen there are a reflection on us.

If this ever happens again just let security know. They take these sorts of things pretty serious

You hear racist shit all the time in 112. Can't tell you how many times I've heard "spic" "polack", "ginger"(that ones not really racist) and now this nazi stuff. I'm sure people can play the "I'm german so I can make that joke" or "My friends are polish so I'm just ribbing them" - but when you're shouting it out like a moron for everyone to hear in 112, people don't take it as a friendly jab or an inside joke, they just think you're being as ass.

Would love to see it stop at BMO and in 112 specificially.

The seats behind me are "corporate" and there's different people most weeks. The owners never really know who gets the tickets. I have had to speak to guys on a couple of different occasions. Remarks about monkeys, homo, camel jockeys and the like…the more they drink…the louder it becomes.

Finally, I said enough already. They're like, "Who the fuck are you?

In my younger days I would have filled them in but now I just say "Don't make me walk up to the back of 108 and tell security or the cop."

Only once have I had someone say, "Go ahead, Asswipe!"

They were immediately escorted out and I know the STH has been warned

Aside from the stupidity of heckling our own player (who was the best player on the pitch last night) do people really think that all Germans are Nazi's, especially 60 years after the fact? Today, Germany is a far more immigrant friendly country than some of the other Western European countries and younger generations of Germans are liberal minded.

Sat 2 rows behind and I didn't notice all this shit. It's a shame that this sort of stuff still exists. I'm English and have nothing against the Germans in the slightest. Sadly it's just the small-minded minority in every society who do.

On the subject of heckling your own plays, if an individual gives the ball away or doesn't show 100%, I'll let them know. As a fan, I don't think there's anything wrong with that. But turning it into derogatory abuse is pathetic.

There is a HUGE difference between heckling and calling someone out. The sole purpose of heckling is to distract the player from what he is doing, and should only be used when the opposite team is in possession of the ball to mess with their head. When your own guy messes up, you can yell at him to smarten up or get in the game, but that's AFTER a mistake, and it isn't the same as heckling.

What do you think would happen if somebody in 112 was calling De Guzman a ****** all game long? Can you honestly compare the two?

I'm not saying one is worse than the other, they're both terrible... but what Columbus did is way, way more socially frowned upon.

Thanks for all the input. I am still skeptical about what security will do, but perhaps if we all speak up when they are summoned it will work. actually, using the f word is the same, and if its less frowned upon, its because society is still largely bigoted towards gays. 50 years ago, using an n-bomb was the norm, and not really frowned upon socially as well.

its still bigotry though. the fact is, you will find it in any crowd. i only mention the crew because it got such a reaction here.

Spoke to a guy who works BMO security today. He said that security would either have to hear the slur to kick him out or, he said maybe a pile of witnesses would also do the job. In respect to banning, he indicated that only applies to repeat offenders and that this guy would probably only get a warning on first offense. He did not speak in any official capacity, mind you.

That's your solutions to problems, turn a blind eye? This guy was in 112, a section that's associated with our group. Whether we like it or not, things said and done on 112 reflect on our group - regardless of it's said or done by a member. I don't want the group that I'm a proud member of to be associated with racism, and I expect our members to address the problem to protect our image and because it's the right thing to do.

Its nice that he took responsibility for a flag himself instead of heaping it on the people you mention. I'll give him some credit for that.

the first time that song was ever propperly sung was when TFC were losing 3-0 in the pissing down rain...was more of like we love TFC even tho we are still lossing. So dont know why people now say we can only sing that when we are winning a game, because that aint how it started out.

This is true, but it was sung under much different circumstances.
