Knight: A happy night out of nothing (http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20080706.WBsoccerblog20080706194150/WBStory/WBsoccerblog/)

Ben Knight, 06/07/08 at 7:41 PM EDT

Before the match, even the fans sounded like they were mailing it in.
Toronto FC hosted Mexican high-flyers Pachuca Saturday evening, despite desperately needing a day off before Wednesday's crucial flight to Vancouver to fight for survival in CONCACAF Champions League qualifying.
Scalpers were reportedly settling for $20 for prime field-side seats – when they weren't picking squabbles with supporters or getting bundled into paddy wagons by the cops. The scalpers are rapidly becoming the Millwall of the lakeshore: nobody likes them, and they don't care.

Hogtown has to holler
Women's side needs support against Brazil

By GARETH WHEELER

The men did battle with the world's strongest football nation more than a month ago in Seattle. This time, it's the women and they're on home turf -- literally -- as they make their long-awaited debut at the National Soccer Stadium (aka BMO Field) on Thursday. Coming off a runner-up performance at the Peace Cup in South Korea, the match against the tried and tested Brazilians will determine where the women stand heading into the Beijing Games.

TORONTO -- With one exhibition match out of the way, things become a little less friendly for Toronto FC this week.
After a side of mostly non-regular players and youngsters acquitted themselves well against Pachuca of Mexico - playing to a 1-1 tie in regular time and losing 4-3 on penalty kicks at BMO Field on Saturday - Toronto will play a couple of crucial away games in two different competitions.

it was a VERY messy scene. I'm glad I didn't get punched out for trying to keep one fan and one scalper from fighting. Next time, I'm just walking away.

So does he end up at Montreal or Vancouver?
