Hello all,

I have joined forces with Rohan to help raise money for Right To Play and Sick Kids Hospital through the sale of Toronto Til I Die Wristbands for $5.00. It is all for a good cause and I would love to see all my fellow RPBers wearing them in full force, so please PM me if interested and they will be available through me at each game and tailgates when they are on for you to get, so please show your support and go Reds

Regards

CBlake,
Team Ricketts

Thats brilliant mate.

I always sit here and say stuff like if i was rich i would do this that etc and not saying i can't help coz im not rich but i just say that when i see Basketball players, Footy players etc making so much money so as my cuz is not struggling for money we try to brainstorm different ideas and this is one that can really help.

We wanna see TFC fans all wearing these bands as it says "Toronto till i die" and shows your representing but at the same time shows that you have supported the cause.

We will possibly be getting some kinda coverage of this whole thing and im thinking we might try and do this with a presention to both charities.

The amount we give to both charities will depend on the die hard TFC fans so your help is much appreciated.

Special thanks to Nuvinho, CBlake, CoachGT who have purchased quite a few and have spread the word around work etc

on an added note, when i got mine wristband it was the same day Rohan scored 2 goals so they are also a good luck charm. So if everyone gets some bracklets and wears them to matches i dont see how Rohan cannot win the scoring title this year......

Its actually being split between both Sick Kid and Right to Play which is affiliated with the club

I will not be in Chicago, but they will be available at each game at BMO this month including the All-Star game and beyond, and tailgates when they are on, also I will be at Shoeless Joe's Wednesday night to watch the Canadian Championship game vs. Vancouver, let me know when would be best to for you to get some. Thanks again for the support.

I think this is a fantastic idea. I have one little issue though. Is "Toronto till I die" the right slogan for a hospital fundraiser?

The slogan is to express your passion for the Reds, if anyone is taken back by it because a portion of the proceeds are going to Sick Kids Hospital we are sorry.

Are you interested in getting some? Let me know if you are.

Cblake, no knock on you or what you are doing. I think it is absolutely great that you are taking the initiative.

But I have to agree that the "Toronto till I die" is not appropriate for a fundraiser for the sick kids. i am sure it didn't cross your mind, but it is just in bad taste.

Is it possible to change to say "All for one" or something or are they all produced already. I hate for my first post to be so negative, but I think you should rethink your slogan if possible.

I was thinking the exact same thing. If I were to wear one it would be cool. But for a little terminal kid......wow.

The kids aren't going to be wearing the bracelet - fans are. I agree, it could have been something more appropriate - but I don't think it's a big deal. Just don't give any bracelets to the kids though!

Anyway - I'd still like to know the percentage going to each charity - out of my $5 how much is going to each? for example: $2 each, $1 each, $0.25 each? If it hasn't been decided yet that's fine - just would like to know if possible.

After all, it's 'Toronto till I die', not 'Toronto till you die'.

I probably shouldn't have posted that... (or did I ????)

Toronto Till I Die was my suggestion, and it was made before the charities were identified.I made the suggestion because it's a line from one of our chants, and evokes the idea that our support wil never falter. You're reading way too much into things if you want to link the phrase with the youngsters who are being treated at Sick Kids.Would you also say that the kids that benefit from the Right to Play charity, should take the phrase as a suggestion that they should only ever play for TFC should they go PRO?The phrase is for us. The wrist band is for us. The cash raised is for them. end of

Yeah i can understand what your saying but we are just worried about how much money we will be giving them. Hardly any of the kids from the hospital are gonna have the bands its mainly TFC fans so its not like we are selling to them.

If you feel offended or something we can see to it that your money goes to the other charity we are given to "Right To Play"

"Toronto Till I Die" was thought of by Rohan coz he heard the fan singing it

Roogsy
07-07-2008, 10:17 PM
LOL! I don't think he is offended...I think he is just pointing out the cruel irony. There is a little "awkwardness" in the wording being that it's for sick kids.

Big Bruva
07-07-2008, 10:21 PM
I was thinking the exact same thing. If I were to wear one it would be cool. But for a little terminal kid......wow.

Its not for the children in the hospital and Rohan had no intention of giving anything to Sick Kids so its not like he thought of giving the money to Sick Kids then thought of the slogan "Toronto Till I Die".

He was gonna give all to "Right to Play" but my girlfriend told RR that he should do 2 charities and give some to "Sick Kids" coz she works with Kids and also coz "Right to Play" are affiliated with the club she thought they get a lot already so........

But hey we can just change it back to "Right To Play" only and give "Sick Kids" nothing on this one

Thank You

I never even knew it came from your suggestion coz when i asked he said "the fan sing it a lot" so i assumed he got it from that but it was from you lol nice one.

Like i say we can swith it back to RR' idea and just do "Right o Play"

Would that be better?
