Last match for TFC before a much needed break in the schedule that will precede the debuts of Frings and Koevermans, and allow key reinforcements to return from the infirmary.

Hopefully, the boys will put on a strong performance tonight to help erase the memory of the debacle in New York.

I can't read these threads when almost everyone is being negative. We got blown out at new york because of tired bodies injured bodies and players not playing in their natural positions. New York is a good team dont forget that.
TFC wins today 1-0 or 2-1 but they will win I know this team will do great things really soon .... NO more MO no more carver,preki,cummins,daso,... When todays game is done and the final whistle blows i want all the TFC negative coments to stay out of these threads. Seems to me like the same people that are leaving negative comments are the same that are in hiding when the Maple Leafs are out of the playoffs .... You either bleed red or the Reds and bleed blue for the Leafs. Or just shut the hell up.

My knees got shredded at footy last night and the blood was red - but I still don't think we're going to beat Houston... LOL

Its 100 degrees down there & we have a break in the schedule coming up, so - play hard, physical, even a little dirty... Stick in and give Houston a war & the bumps that come with it, they might not like it and hold off a bit and maybe, we can keep it close enough to grab a draw...

You're kind of missing the point...

Being the road team, and coming into tough climate conditions (yes we do have hot days like that SOMETIMES in Toronto) Houston are probably expecting us to come in a play a "conservative" road game - a play for the draw...

My thought, since we have a break in the schedule, and two new players that will take places in the starting-11, why not go out there and really take it to them... Bang'em, foul'em in the midfield, stick in with tackles, walk that edge of physcial and dirty...

That could catch Houston off guard a little... Also, they don't have the same break in the schedule, or two new starters coming into the top-11 like we do... So they might not want to be that willing to take the bump, take the injury, or take the cards / suspensions that come with it...

I'm trying to think of a tactic that might get a result...

You're betting on tonight's game? That's some hardcore positivity there :D. I would love to see a win but seeing how poor we have defended set pieces as of late and seeing that Houston is one of the best from set pieces the only way we can pull off a win today is if we limit the amount of stupid fouls outside the box and the # of corners we give up.

We've done it before, we can do it tonight. Let's see.

I think we'll see Gordon pot his 5th tonight. Hoping Soolsma gets one in open play too.

I'm calling an optimistic tie 2-2.

ManUtd4ever
07-09-2011, 10:44 AM
If Gordon is ready to go that would definitely help. If he's questionable, I'm not sure it would be wise to risk him aggravating his groin injury with 11 days off after tonight's match.

TFC will be in the game for the first ___ minutes. How many? Then there'll be that 'click' and Houston will adjust. Will TFC also adjust?

Maybe this time TFC will get a lucky bounce, a call will go their way or instead of hitting the post they'll score the first goal and make a game of it.

Most players on this team should be playing for their jobs next year - and the coaches, too. Unfortunately all those decisions seem to have been made - the coaches are staying and many players will be shipped out as soon as their contracts allow. It doesn't really have to be that way but it seems like it is.

Putting aside everything else going on right now...have we ever had an evening road game in July or August where we didn't look horrible? Our overall record in these games must be something like 1-18-3.

I see it as 1-0 TFC. A run like that has to end someday.

My guess is that Gordon comes in at half time. It seems like there has been 2 games a week for weeks. Love all the action but even fans see the need for a break. I hope they go for it tonight. Martina is due after one called back and a couple of posts.

Houston is in the playoff hunt, they are going to have their eyes firmly on taking points.

Given the embarrassment in NY, TFC will have a chip on their shoulder and bunker down and show better defensive commitment.

Would like to see a replay of what happened to Gordon. Looked like a pen to me but that could be due to extreme bias. Frei has not been at his best lately. That was saveable. Think he maybe got his angles wrong there.

Frei is getting tired of this shit IMO. He wasn't angry went the ball went it, just seemed to accept it.

Can't blame him, to be honest.

That is my point. European scouts don't really care about how bad Toronto is they are looking for the best in the league. That is why Tim Howard went to United. If Frei were playing for any half way decent team he would get noticed for his skills and there wouldn't be any qualifier. Currently he is "A strong keeper, good distribution, solid shot stopper, lost of passion BUT he has a terrible goals against average."

If I were his Mr. 15% I would be pushing for a transfer to anywhere but here.

There are lots of countries in Europe he could play for a top club in no problem at all and odds on he makes the move next time he is out of contract. Generation Adidas deals are usually for five seasons. What's been lacking so far this summer are the Frei to Stoke City sort of rumours. Some of the international media coverage of events since the big one has been a bit surreal if you live here. Just another aftershock basically. We still get those every few days.
