Friendly fixture perfect opportunity to tinker

Most of the time, coaches aren't thrilled with an exhibition game stuck in the middle of the season.
When your team is struggling, however, it can be just what's needed.

TFC eyes changes for hectic week
By DEAN MCNULTY (dean.mcnulty@sunmedia.ca), SUN MEDIA

There will be little time for Toronto FC to recuperate from its bitter 1-0 loss to the Vancouver Whitecaps on Tuesday as the Major League Soccer side faces three games during the next seven days. First on the schedule for the Reds is a friendly with Mexico's Pachuca CF tonight (7:30 p.m.) at BMO Field.

Toronto FC looks for good result against Pachuca
LARRY MILLSON
Globe and Mail Update

TORONTO — Toronto FC will be looking past tonight's exhibition match at BMO Field against Pachuca from Mexico with good reason.
Not because of the opposition because Pachuca is a skilled side with a proud history that includes three CONCACAF Champions Cup titles and another in the North American SuperLiga.
But TFC is trying to build a proud history of its own as a Major League Soccer club and while a good result against a team like Pachuca would help, it is still a friendly after all with all that it entails.

Toronto move in on Dickov

TORONTO FC manager Mo Johnston has declared his "serious interest" in Blackpool target Paul Dickov, who has travelled to Canada for talks with the club.
Dickov has been in Toronto this week to discuss terms and look at the set-up.

The Seasiders have been in pursuit of Dickov all summer but his fellow ex-Scotland international Johnston looks determined to scupper Blackpool's move.

my fault, mis-read. We all remember the last Blackpool target we were involved with.
