Where were our defenders?

Mr Perfect Richard Eckersley was up field watching the play develop around him.

Brutal start. Stupid mental mistake again costs us early again.

I always worry when one of our players gets praised too much... Martina, Plata, and so many others.

The ball was out by a mile before the goal, but oh well.

WTF is that linesman smoking? He was right there.

kaos197O
06-11-2011, 09:54 PM

Not Borman....he was off in the middle somewhere leaving Henry and Harden to cover the rest

v00d00daddy
06-11-2011, 09:58 PM
who was covering for him?

It wasnt a question of who was covering for him. He moved up, the play fell apart and his man was given the ball while Eck was jogging next to him.

He didn't read the play and when he saw unfolding he didn't react when he still had the chance.

Not physically lazy really...but definitely mentally lazy.

TFC seem to be trying to respond which is a decent sign I guess.

We need to catch a break.

LA defense doesn't look very good. Surprised they've kept clean sheets for so long.

LA scores in the 2nd minute.

Beckham's tackle forces Tchani off (Plata in)

Few minutes later Peterson also gets injured, and Gordon comes on.

So right now it's 1-0 LA

LA was dominating in the first 20 minutes. Had a few good shots on us, even hit the post once.

But now it looks pretty even, although we really still haven't created a good chance.

Oops, sorry. Forgot to mention that. Yeah, he got a yellow for the tackle. I think it was fair (the card I mean, not the tackle). Definitely a foul, but didn't warrant a red.

Bob De Klerk showing Andi Petrillo his favourite positions. You lucky Dutch bastard!

[NBF]
06-11-2011, 10:45 PM
Gaza, the way that DeKlerk showed the big red dots in front of the TFC defenders on the touch screen almost resembled exactly what was going with TFC and the big open spaces infront of Frei.

Auzzy
06-11-2011, 10:46 PM
I think Beckham's tackle was somewhat unintentional, but wreckless. It ended up being a scissor tackle on Tchani, the kind that can really injure.

Like in the Canada/Guadaloupe game, a scissor-like tackle should be a sending off for intent to injure.

im starting to think that Soolsma would be a much better 2nd striker(attacking midfielder) or Target Man than Gordon. Im not sure if he would be too easy to mark with his lack of speed.

That makes staying up watching on crappy non HD worth it!!!!!!
1. Gordon lights out!
2. Lineup full of subs played really well!
3. The formation/style is coming together a bit!
4. That is the type of finish that doesn't happen for TFC but always to TFC!
5. How sweet a flight home will the boys have now!
6. I use too many exclamation marks!

The team played okay tonight. It's nice to see.

Eliminate some simple mental mistakes and it'll look that much better.

I don't. While you might hope it sends a message to MLSE, more likely it will just result in TFC cracking down on internet streams.

Winter finally tried the direct approach and the team was more effective on the attack as a result. Great overall effort.

What was funny was that for easily five minutes of the first half, all they did on the LA broadcast was talk about how the Galaxy were closing in on the franchise record for shutout streak, bet they didn't see this one coming.

It feels as though Alan Gordon is the real difference maker in our team; not just in terms of goalscoring, just in term of offensive push. He's the professor behind the attack, seeing space and pointing to it. He's an organizer and that's what's crucial and, most importantly, was lacking when he was gone.

Sturgis had a nice game with decent setplay kicks and cleaned up in front of defenders well. No idea why Peterson gets starts over him.

Still looked a little like Santos was playing a very high AM or I guess it was a 4-4-2 but didn't seem to be very traditional as Plata and Soolsma were still pretty forward, either way 1.they looked fine even before then (except for the first 2 minutes and a stretch of 5 or so midway). 2. I'm just blown away by the win and they did look much better overall 3. Let's just enjoy the win... err I mean tie... road tie against the top team in the league!!!

Fucking right, hopefully he gets more looks. He feels better than anyone right now after the ball deflected off his foot back to Angel for the go-ahead goal. He looked pretty disheartened after that. Hope he's smiling now.

Was that really a 4-4-2? Plata was pushed up just as far as the other two strikers were IMO.

The difference was that LA just completely lost the battle in the midfield and Eckersley started attacking with pace out of the back.

Hopefully the morale boost of pulling back level twice away from home against one of the top teams in the league turns the season around. Compare and contrast that performance with some of the pathetic displays away from home when the weather got hot under Johnston and Carver. Definite signs of life now for the 4-3-3 tactics if a positive DP signing can be made during the upcoming window to fill the Amado Guevara sort of attacking midfield role.

Doneil Henry looks like a better prospect than Nana Attakora did at the same age. Alan Gordon has been the missing ingredient in recent games. Hopefully he'll be 100% again by the time the next game rolls around and all the limping was a bit of a kid on. Love how Beckham snubbed him at the end where shaking hands was concerned. It was good to see the overpaid prima donna get a taste of what he dished out to Tchani.

That Santos shot that hit the woodwork could have also changed the game. Suffice to say, TFC looked very good in the 2nd half and should watch the tape of that half over and over and remember to do exactly the same things. Do that at home and we start picking up 3 points.

I thought we looked good tonight. Not nearly enough possession, but our wingers made really smart runs, lots of overlaps from Eckersley and Borman which added another layer to the attack.

When Gordon was subbed in it changed everything. He holds up the ball very well, better than anyone else on the team, and is an excellent passer. Not to mention his finishing ability, but that should be evident. Just overall, at least in the second half, we were the better team and looked confident, yes confident, on the ball. Nice to see!

Glad I tuned in for the 2nd half. Missed the first 45.

Camera angle was from behind Frei and, as Gordon's volley went in Frei dropped to his knees, leaned back and raised his hands and pumped the air.

Would make a crazy poster.

Agreed. This game could have been three points if we hadn't come out flat, and minimized the dumb individual mental mistakes.

Still though, this draw feels like a win. Most entertaining TFC game of the year - and the first in a while with real drama.

Alan Gordon's last minute volley tied it at 2-2, but our neighbours to the west did about the same against Seattle. Eric Hassli with a wondergoal volley to draw it at 2-2 in the last couple minutes of the game.

Also, where is Nana Attakora?

Still injured from the game before. Winter had made it clear he was a major doubt on Friday's Toronto FC TV clip. Think Henry and Harden did well enough that Winter might be reluctant to make a change. When you get a bit of momentum going it's often a good idea to stick with the players who just got the job done for you.
