I never really though that Freindlies had much benefit to a national side.
but they are INVALUABLE to a struggling Football nation like Canada.

One look at all the press this game is getting is a clear indication of that.

The kids involved in the sport in the last 10 years another.

Canadian Stars playing abroad another.

We're movin on up. . and I believe that before I kick off, I will see Canada enter a WC final. . and I will be there. . and it will be glorious. :flag:

Red Nation Online: Pre Gold Cup Interviews. (http://www.rednationonline.ca/PreGoldCup2011Interviews.aspx)

Yeah, it's only a blog, but Red Nation seriously deserves to be in the first post for their Canada coverage. A bunch of interviews at the link above, hart, de guzman, de rosario, Dunfied, McKenna, and the Hart, Hutchinson, mckenna press conference.
A few other articles up there on the site already as well. Much better than all the MSM lazily using the same CP article about urgency.

^Agree that RNO is tops for the CMNT but you need to explain the acronyms MSM and CP.

This one's for you Duncan :)

The idea of moving Tchani back to CB I think is something worth discussing for sure.

Might be logical as a temporary step when Williams is at the GC....but I am not sure longterm solution. He is great in the midfield breaking up tackles and winning balls.....His distribution needs work though as you can tell he has good vision, but his execution is lacking. I don't know how many times I could picture and see the pass he is trying to make, only for it to come short or get picked off.....he is still young and learning though.

Friendlies are very important. Either in building confidence or getting players from across the world to play together. Canada needs all the friendlies it can get so the players work together.

And yes, it's great press too.

I think Tchani might get demolished if he moves to CB, hope he proves me wrong if it ever happens.

Demolished how? I think he has good footballing sense...maybe not a top I.Q. as yet, but it is growing. He has proven he can be physical and break up plays and has good speed and height.....might be something to experiment. At least in training.....TFC has a history of moving players to the CB position when injuries or cards in games occur (i.e. Robinson, Brennan)

We should give Tosaint a call, his club in Romania just went from Champions League to relegation because of debt problems.

Just google News Poli Timisoara...there's like 100+ links on the topic. All of them in Romanian, so you'll have to bust out the google translate.
