forget the 20 year old monstrosities we usually get, today's SSG is the best looker there's been in a while

There are a lot of tourists signs around town now that say, "Toronto - we've been expecting you." but, come on, we don't have to be so welcoming.

I knew we were going to be bad this year, but not this bad.

It's taken 5 years of not so hard work to earn that reputation!

Who's about to marry a 26 year old douchebag. That ruined it for me, and I needed something after yesterday's shit hoagie. :prrr:

My match report .
TFC come down fast again (http://www.wakingthered.com/2011/5/29/2195907/toronto-fc-2-6-philadelphia-union-tfc-come-down-fast-again)

after a steady climb back to respectability and a few decent games, tfc are back at the bottom again.

the amount of time/games between disasters may be the best way to measure success for tfc this year.

At least it'd encourage MLSE to sell the team.

I'm not sure where you ended up, but the eats were MUCH better than that at the tailgate yesterday.

Yes!!!

Because relegation is about fear and accountability.

Something MLSE cares little about because…they don't have to.

If there was relegation we wouldn't have to worry about MLSE because they'd never have taken a franchise under those circumstances. Would anyone in this city invest in a team that could end up playing in a 2nd division against Rochester and drawing 2000 fans? Well, maybe, but not enough of an investment to ever get promoted. It would be the Lynx, wouldn't it?

yeah, the relegation thing doesn't apply in North America, and I don't think anyone could possibly think that it does.

Teams in European countries already exist and have for decades (or more). The only way a team could be *bought* in that system is with a huge chunk of cash to buy a top club (Chelsea, City) or someone would have to buy a lower level team and invest years in bringing them up to the top tier.

Sports owners in North America would never invest slowly and expect to lose money for the first 5+ years.

but the logical mind understands this.

I can well imagine that the tailgate food was delish.

I had to record and watch the game yesterday as my brother and I helped our mother clean up in and out of her house and to take all garbage to the local landfill, which was open free for the public to dump - it only happens once or twice a year.

Yesterday's game was a much bigger, smellier pile of garbage than the real stuff I was around. :ack2:

I know her. If you can believe it she's hotter in person.

Have you guys heard the "Dmitri" voicemail internet viral audio clip that got played on Z103? He was hitting on Claudia. If I can find it online I will post it.

Oh, I'm well aware of why relegation doesn't exist in NA sport…accountability and greed.

The difference Saturday was not only the collective effort and patience shown by Philadelphia to dominate on the road, it demonstrated the advantage a manager familiar with the league and its players has over a coach that's exploring MLS for the first time.

Bang on.

Greed is hardly unique to North American sports owners. I just think the era of meaningful relegation is past - TV money has changed everything. Every league has some teams that simply don't fear relegation and some that do. That imbalance isn't something anyone starting up a new league would want. It's not like the Belfast Giants hockey team play in a league with relegation.
