Will be interesting to see how many members TFC make it, last time I saw Sutton, Guevara and Edu were doing well in the voting.

I am crossing my fingers for Marvell....I think he is the one TFC player that deserves the starting spot (not sure Sutton really deserves it, and Edu certainly doesn't)

Shaughno

^^ IMO Velez or Wynne would be the best choice from TFC.

I'm pretty sure Amado will make it since he's the only player the media seems to notice anywhere but here and they have a say in voting. On Merit it's gonna be Wynne for us. I love Velez but his mistakes to start the year will probably exclude him.

Shaughno
07-08-2008, 07:49 AM
Mistakes? Compared to the ones Wynne or Brennan make? Only difference is Wynne is fast enough to get back and cover for his mistakes and Brennan somehow avoids all criticism. Velez has been a rock in our back line since about the 4th week.

Exactly, since the 4th week. But the mistakes were goal causing, and in games where the american media would see him (DC, LA). Marvell had the terrible penalty but that's it for compete cock ups

Shaughno
07-08-2008, 08:03 AM
So 3 weeks of adjustment to the squad is enough to rule out his performances ever since? I'm sure his passion on the pitch caught the attention of the media and coaches.

Agreed and even though Robert hasn't been outstanding by any means, I wouldn't be surprised to see him possibly make the bench.

Thank you...someone else who sees what is going on at Full back on both sides of the park. Brennan has been awful since he came back from international duty - poor defending, shit distribution and I worry about his temperament the way he has lost it against NE and Vancouver.
I know it's heresy round these parts to say such, but it has to be said,

Our CB's have been fairly solid whether it's been Velez, Marshall, James or Tebily but Wynne and Brennan have been a step below last season's performances IMO. Wynne makes it up with his ability to track back after getting lost, but still.

Why not? It's off season for them, good way to get people back into the swing of things. Doesn't mean players like Ljungberg, Bellamy, Ashton, etc. are going to get much time, if any at all. In fact, that looks like their full roster to me...

No TFC + No Dero = mistake by MLS. Not that I'm saying they deserve to be in based on top 11, but come on, this isn't a competative game anyway. They should have given us our token TFC player (Wynne, he's always fun against good competition) and Dero for our Canadian bias. The problem is, they say they want a "normal TFC crowd" so show us off in this big event. Well, that's all well and good, but you've given us a team with no one to cheer for! Oh, but it has Beckham and Donovan...

Sorry MLS, don't be surprised if the crowd is a) Quiet, b) anti all-stars.

Sorry Landon, but with no TFC players on your side, you're still a cunt.

I couldn't help laughing at all those players we hate talking about how us fans are going to bring 'it' for the MLS team and how much they're anticipating it.

I think a lot of MLS players and management are used to fan bases that are more patriotic to their country than to their team. IE, they'll support anyone on the MLS team since it's the "American" team.

Now with the game in Canada and a support base like ours that is fiercely TFC...

This will be interesting.

Yeah I'm with Shaughno. Just cause they are playing our stadium doesn't mean they represent us. one of the main reasons i want into the Champions league is so we can slightly separate ourselves from a league that has teams called the Red Bulls and so on. Yeah I'm with Shaughno. Just cause they are playing our stadium doesn't mean they represent us. one of the main reasons i want into the Champions league is so we can slightly separate ourselves from a league that has teams called the Red Bulls and so on. Screw those players, I don't need "the world" to give a shit about us, as long as we keep caring I'll be happy. Loud aggressive boos for all non TFC players!!!

Then hy not lobby MLSE to form an All Canada league with teams from such places as Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and Portage la Prarie, Manitoba?

Isn't there a "Manitoba Major Soccer League" and a CSL? You have nuff teams. Go Canadian!

Firstly Red Bulls isn't cornball it's corporate. You wouldn't understand why this is bad because you are from the USA where you'd think something like that is good, which is funny. Secondly we've got a league already to play in with teams from the middle of nowhere (SEE Salt lake city/Kansas/COLUMBUS)

Considering it was the coaches, players etc. casting their vote, I don't see anything wrong with their selections. In fact they are good. If Guevara had started the season and not left for 4 weeks in the middle of it, he might be there. Any other year DeRo would have made it, but he has not been at his best this year.

Though that's fair in general, it is a different question when it's in Toronto. We didn't join MLS in 1996. We (the fans) joined a league that we were told WAS professional, not was TRYING to be professional. As such, we don't feel the need to support the league against the big bad world. We support our team WITHIN the league. So, since we have no need to feel an allegience to the league as a whole, and beating (or losing to) Westham doesn't effect our lives, there are only a few reasons to get pumped for this game. For me personally, they would be 1) seeing TFC players play (yes, I see them every week, but I am emotionally attached to them), or 2) Seeing Canadian players play. Since the all star team has neither, it's an expensive ticket to a game with no attachment. This means TFC fans will not be united on mass behind either team. Sure some will be cheering for Beckham, and some against Beckham, and some for the hammers, and most against Donovan, but there really isn't a unifying factor. Most of the people there will be sitting on their seats, clapping for a good goal or a good stop, and not much else.

Honestly, the biggest losers here are going to be MLS. They expect a BMO atmosphere and they'll probably get one more akin to the HDC. Sure, some people will still be chanting, but without the passion that unites us, it will all just seem a bit... empty.

Absolutelly. The powers that be are working in our favour. We do not want our top flight players in 3 games in 5 days. SJ, MI and then All Star. No way.
