as long as he realizes that this is a place to play football, not to retire, i'm fine.

he was pissed about not getting playing time so id assume hed understand that, im sure Winter and Mariner would make that amply clear (supposing this ever came to fruition and i have my doubts)

nope, not for me. Good player capable of great moments on his day but he is too old and slow for me now. I would hope we could get a better DP than him if indeed he were to sign as a DP.

I rather have this guy:

Ruud van Nistelrooy could return to England

Former Manchester United superstar Van Nistelrooy could return to the English Premier League, with Sunderland in a sturdy pursue for the Dutch international. Van Nistelrooy who is currently playing for German side Hamburg, will see his contract end come this summer and is on the lookout for a new club, and Steve Bruce is leading the chase.
Sunderland who for their part were doing quite well at the beginning of the season, however they seemed to have lost their stamina and fell to the near bottom of the table. Van Nistelrooy’s services would suit the Sunderland camp quite well should Bruce entice him enough. Word has it, Sunderland are willing to fork out a £60,000 a week wage for the 34 year old striker. If this is the same Van Nistelrooy that was a part of United’s success a couple of years ago, then surely there should be no question as to whether he will make an impact for Sunderland.

This is approximately 97,212.22 USD per week or 5.1 mil per year, peanuts for ML$E.:D

I believe Winter already enquired about bringing him over with RVN himself and he still believes he has the ability to play in Europe

Just throw a pile of cash at Seedorf and Van Nistelrooy, problem solved, hello playoffs, hello BMO atmosphere year 1.

What's 10 mill, seriously MLSE.

Im being facetious.
Everytime a player with a devent past is linked to the MLS..somebody says " _____will tear this league apart"....It was said with henry, Robert, Rickets, Huckerby, etc.....I find it quite funny

I prefer when people say "He'll tear this league apart"...it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling.

I do like Klose though but think teams in Europe would want him.

It would be less for this year would it not....if he came in the summer the contract would be adjusted for remaining games...correct? As would be the same for anyone we get....so you could technically throw a big weekly wage toward the player and get off a little better than paying the full out salary.

I think we need to be a little more realistic with these potential DP signings that would "tear this league apart". We don't have enough clout in international football to get big names like Henry (New York City drew him) and Beckham (Hollywood and HUGE $ drew him).
I know it's been discussed a million times but we need to look in South America for guys like Ferrera and Montero.

why? simply discussing getting a decent DP is unrealistic to begin with

Forget about tearing, shattering, firmly handshaking or even sensually massaging the league, I'd be happy with a DP that can score more than 5 goals.

Craig Bellamy would bludgeon this league to death with a golf club and Michael Owen would fracture this leagues metatarsal -- twice.

But someone who's going to tear this league apart, wouldnt fit with Winter's system. We need someone who is going to rip this league to shreds.

One of the most prolific goalscorers of his generation and you pick that.

I don't use the Picard that often but that surely deserves one.

Actually several.

I do not mind older CFs and CBs, but mids no matter how great they are need to be fit. So any mid over 33 is a gamble.

If we had Bellamy then results like last Saturday wouldn't happen. There would be no complacency and floating for sure. Unless the floaters in question enjoy being strangled and/or beaten.

i agree... i think klose is the kind of player that will finish chances and half chances that players around him will create... but he himself wont be a creator for other players... the problem we have here is as a team we dont create enough chances.. klose will play off the shoulder of the last defenceman waiting for chances but it will come to no avail, and sooner rather than later the lot of you will be calling for his head

this team should be looking for a CAM as a dp... someone like seedorf who will create chances for others...

Bolo wouldn't be able to get up and down the pitch anymore with his (now older) stubby little legs. I don't think he would make as much of an impact as you would think.

ps. Giggs, Giggs will tear any league apart...again....
