Frei after the game: At the 60th minute the team stopped moving the ball forward and were reluctant to close down when the chicago fire came on the attack.

Serioux after the game: Its always been TFC's problem that they cant stay in shape for the entire game. When things are going right the team pulls together and as soon as things go wrong the players break formation and try to play individually.

Paul Winsper: Gee maybe there is a correlation between a fitness coach and the players not being lethargic for the final 35 minutes of a game.

SSG: Very Cute...I doubt shes 18 though. More like 28.

while I do agree with Winsper, the rain was pretty energy sapping, and the last 35 minutes of the game were also the bleakest weather-wise.

SSG might be 18, but when ever you take a normally pretty girl and 'glam her up' with too much makeup, she usually ends up looking older.

Isn't that also where Chicago had more chances? They're the visiting team playing in the same weather.

And may I say they (Chicago) were playing against the wind and slashing rain in the second half

After the weather took a turn for the worse, it seemed like the turning point was when Tchani slipped on the wet pitch causing a turnover that directly led to Chicago's free kick just outside the box. After Chicago scored that first goal, the momentum shifted and TFC just couldn't respond.

From the star article

In the 76th minute, Chicago’s Marco Pappa buried a free kick from 20 yards out to cut TFC’s lead, and the Fire tied the game in the 83rd minute when a sliding Orr Barouch buried a rebound from a teammate’s shot

eh? that's some horrible mixing up of your game notes there. does the star not haave some kind of editor or fact checker to catch that sort of slip up?

What's wrong with it?

And I agree with Serioux. When the team's playing well, they can play well. But when they start to shit the bed, they really stink..

What's wrong ,how about Pappa scored in 61 minute and Barouch in 74 for 2-2,in 83 minute is was the great save from Frei.

You can train fitness as hard as you want but if you get so sloppy tactically that you're doing nothing but chasing the ball, you'll be out of energy before the other team is. If anyone wants proof of this, look how often the Paul Winsper teams gave up the lead in the last 30 minutes of the game.

Being toothless up front without Plata and impatient with the ball trying to hit every counter attack lead to TFC giving Chicago the ball way too easily. In fact, counter attacking sounds way too generous; there were a lot of balls simply lumped forward to nobody. They used that possession to pin us in our own end and we ran out of energy consistently trying to defend.

Side note is that the counter attack was ineffective. If it was effective this might have limited their ability to push us back so much and we could have hit back to score another.

Bottom line is that really once we got a 2-0 lead Winter didn't effectively manage the game.

TFC wither without joao (http://www.wakingthered.com/2011/5/15/2172023/toronto-fc-2-2-chicago-fire-tfc-wither-without-joao)

is 7 games in 22 days catching up with TFC? third straight game we've started relatively storng and then had a crappy finish to the game.

disturbing how reliant on plata we are.

the high # of games in a short period cannot help. Although Chicago played midweek I believe.

They are playing just about every third day. Maybe RSL can handle that, but a team like TFC cannot.

Tator Tots in Vancouver has been complaining about the same thing actually.

well hopefully we can ensure he doesn't get any extra ccl games to complain about.

as you say a team like rsl can cope, but we just don't have the depth, too many academy kids and draft picks filling out the roster. harden the only defender on the bench. makes the attakora snub all the more puzzling. as for the 'he's not playing well' argument, the game against dc, when he came on to replace Cann, I thought he was one of the better players on the pitch after that.
