I couldn't watch 3 games in a row, but I think I can't watch those three. Its going to piss rain all day/night. We're used it. I bet our 2 million dollar pitch turns into minced meat by the end of the game.

The reason it costs 2 million dollars is because of the heat and drainage system. Pitch will be fine.

The reason it costs 2 million dollars is because of the heat and drainage system. Pitch will be fine.

While we have invested wisely in our pitch (I fully support spending big and doing it right) there are some problem patches that have yet to "stick"...

Around the penalty spot in both boxes is beat up (which is normal) and will take a beating today...

Our pitch won't be fully fit (if we wanna talk about it like a player lol) until next season, when it has a full year to catch, grow, recover, solidify and have a proper spring before a season...

That being said, they have done a great job maintaining a brand new pitch based on our weather this spring - sod was put down, pressed, pushed to catch, and mend together in a very, very short period of time...

We have a heated pitch but 10cm of snow 2-days before a match takes a toll not matter how much heat you pump underneath (without burning the roots)...

It'll be 'fun football' today. Wet, windy, and cold...!!! :)

Carts...

Reds Ready To Deploy Maicon (http://www.torontofc.ca/news/2011/04/reds-ready-deploy-maicon)

Good news that Maicon is back, but "PROBABLE: FW Alen Stevanovic (adductor tightness)" .. Stevanovic should be fine, but this is still alarming. Hope he's fit for the game.

Yes. And I think the pitch in bad condition is not the heating system either. Its the public use damage from last year no? Its used way too much. That thing should be a rock solid deep rooted golf fairway. When we get the practice facility up and running they'll divert public city use to that field.

This is MLSE folks, didn't they do the same thing with the ACC? MLSE has a magic formula for keeping facilities their own.
- build ACC/BMO with public funds
- promise public use, and was delivered
- both ice and field get kicked to shit
- create and divert with practice facilities (Lyons arena in etobicoke with the Leafs, and our yet to be create TFC practice facility)
- crappy field problem solved, way to go MLSE !!

all is good folks. Business-wise MLSE knows what they're doing. Who "to blow" and who has "to go".

(Aside: The Mastercard Lyons(?) Arena in etobicoke is a great facility, I think MLSE and MC sponsor free public ice time for families, I've taken kids many times)

the grass field isn't used by the public. The last time the public used it as when it was field turf.

Wasn't the pitch laid down a year ago? Or did they re-sod over the off-season?

Oh, and to TorCanSoc, the ACC was built entirely with private funds.

I think there was some limited public rentals on it last year. I think one of the bloggers did a piece on it.

There was public use of the field until it became really crappy and MLS actually stepped in and put a stop to it.

How did the MLS step in when the city has a mandate for public use at BMO Field.

They didn't.

The way I heard it, during a down period (when TFC was on the road for two or three consecutive games ), they rented the hell out of BMO Field just to get all the mandated public hours for the summer done with.

They basically rented out two or three months worth of public hours in two weeks, making the pitch look like crap for a short period.
