Why would we burn our former captain's jersey...our all time leading scorer and the man who led us to the Miracle in Honduras

Congrtas man, hope you enjoy owning it. (and it's always nice to put some $$ towards the MLS charity)
It's a nice piece of MLS history with a direct link to TFC.

Uncalled for. De Ro played his heart out for TFC.

yeah reads kind of funny, but when you think about it, it is his goal. he scored it, so the 8000th mls goal belongs to him. I like that it's worded that way
and imo, very nice shirt. personally I still much respect for DeRo.

did you say his 8,000 career goals Jersey?
8,000 goals
or do you mean his 80th goal?
that is two less zeros

That's a lot of scratch to celebrate the league's "achievement" of not folding for 8000 goals. I wonder how much the 8,500th goal jersey will get.
On the plus side, if it all went to charity then who can argue with that?

It all went to a good cause and i'm all for that. The fact that i got the jersey is an added bonus and it's a memory of a player we should all not want to forget.

Actually Vep, the cool thing for you, if you are a DeRo fan, is that the jersey represents his last goal ever in a TFC jersey.
I'd hang on to that moniker more than the 8,000th MLS goal.

thank god my wife didn't see this,...or the bidding would have gone thru the roof lol.........................and yes if money is going to charity,...priceless,...I did the same, spent loads for right to play auction, and DeRo signed the lot.....it's a win, win

The COA pic gets bigger if you click it, it's stated as his 8000th MLS goal, but it's just a funny way of wording that he scored the 8000th mls goal. So it technically is his 8000th mls goal, but only in the context of ownership.
Really whoever wrote the COA should have worded it better.

Dero aside- this 8000th goal thing confuses me. does anyone know who scored the 7000th? or 6000th? or 5000th? Will people remember the 9000th? What about the 10 000th? What about in other leagues? This is the most arbitrary 'milestone' I think I've ever seen celebrated in sports. Glad the money went to charity, but I'd sooner have given the money straight there and not given the MLS the idea that there is some inherent value in a milestone that they create.
It's really not that big of a deal...but you can google the prior goals and who scored them. The 7000th goal was scored by Chris Wondolowski.
All i know is i will remember the 8000th, so will many other TFC fans.
