Winter: De Rosario Demanded Trade

Toronto (http://www.torontofc.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=7508308#) FC manager Aron Winter has hit back at claims made by Dwayne De Rosario (http://www.torontofc.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=7508308#) who was traded to the New York Red Bulls on Friday.

Winter claims the club did everything possible to make him a designated player but the money was not good enough so he demanded a trade.

After Toronto FC's 1-1 draw with Chivas USA, Winter gave his verdict on the De Ro saga.

'I`ve heard a lot of things about what Dwayne is saying, that he didn`t want to trade or whatever,' the coach said following TFC`s 1-1 draw with Chivas USA here on Saturday. 'But what I want to be clear to everybody is that we had a very good offer for the first three years, and he was not happy with that, and then he came to us to ask to be traded, and that`s the real story. We`ve made, I think, a good trade with him because we have opened up cap space to invest more to rebuild our team. And we have got two good players back. That was the reason. He is a good player but I`m always saying, if he wants to be part of the club, and nobody`s bigger than the club. He has made his own choice, and we have helped him.'

"It looks like that TFC has not treated him well, and it`s not true,'

'We have treated him well. And we`ve given him a good offer. At the end he was not happy because he wants to be a DP. We have tried everything to make him a DP, but at the end, no.

'It was like that at a certain moment, he was also not happy and he asked to be traded. And that`s the real story. And I`m not going to say bad things about it. He has made his own choice. It was his decision."

De Rosario Slams Toronto FC After Departure

Former Toronto FC captain Dwayne De Rosario who was traded to the New York Red Bulls on Friday has slammed the team following his shock departure.

Speaking to the New York press TFC's all time goal scorer said that the club is all smoke and mirrors and they do not take care of their players

'They wouldn`t do even little things to help players out, like finding a flat. One player is commuting from Niagara Falls. Others are taking the bus (http://www.torontofc.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=7508301#) to practice. I ask for tickets to games for my family. They won`t help me out. I scrounge them up myself. And I`m talking eight tickets, not twenty."

De Rosario said he did no demand a trade (http://www.torontofc.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=7508301#), he demanded a new contract and once Toronto FC declined they then said they would look at trading him.

It us not yet known if De Rosario will be given a designated player contract at New York.
