Biggest surprise of the night. Vancouver down 3-0, switched to the leafs game. Then wow, 3-3. 2 goals in extra time in the second half. Crazy. They're get'n lots of love in Vancouver.

I don't get the point of Wheeler's title. He simply uses it to take a DeRo-shot (maybe we should coin the term "De-shot" for every time we'll see this) and then gives a game summary.

He does reference DeRo's cap savings as a DP but he is completely wrong about that. The max cap hit of ANY player is $335k. DeRo's salary is paid down using allocation money to get him to the cap max and only the base counts against the cap.

So, breaking news, Wheeler appears to be wrong on the internet today

LOL! It seems some media types learned about MLS roster rules in 2007 and never glanced at the changes each year.

Would wager Wheeler doesn't write the "titles."

I have never in TFC's five years of existence seen them apply a 30 minute stretch of continuous attacking pressure like Vancouver did yesterday. Sad.

I think I'll be tuning in to the Whitecaps on sportsnet a little more often this year.

I would say more comeback.

Whitecaps were full marks for the goals.

Truth be told, they should have won the game with chances they generated in the second half. Real and true opportunities for goals ... not just half chances.

So in the article on the MLS site about NY getting DeRo:

"In order to make the move possible, Solér confirmed that Toronto absorbed some of De Rosario’s salary and that New York still hold a third Designated Player slot open."

So DeRo has the same contract, NO DP spot, and Toronto are "paying" some of his salary. Yeah yeah I know, the league pays the salaries. So some of our "paying" power is lessened because of getting rid of DeRo.

I really hope this helps our team in the near-long term. As a Torontonian I hate hearing that we're paying for players to play against us. Happens way too often in many sports too.

I wonder what "some" means.

Don't forget tho that Tchani doesn't cost anything against the cap. so if TFC is paying 150K to NY for De Ro, that's essentially the cost of Tchani.

One things for sure, TFC did gain cap space from the trade. How much is unclear. It'll be interesting to see if NY offers De Ro a DP spot.

"Uninspired" is right... not much fun watching that game yesterday.

But at least the SSG is inspiring! :D

Another match report here. (http://www.wakingthered.com/2011/4/3/2087496/toronto-fc-1-1-chivas-usa)

saw the second half of the vancouver game, crazy finish there, I just get more and more jealous of them, in their first two home gamees, they get to crush us, and then get that. bastards.

so we're paying a chunk of de ro's salary still? not surprising, but definitely on the depressing side.

Shame we didn't get those extra two points and leap above all those teams on 4 points, I know its early, but 2 points could be huge down the stretch.

Correct. The article titles are written by the editor, not the journalist at that publication

I just wanted to mention that Vancouver also had a ton of great chances in the first half, the KC goalie made some amazing saves, plus some bad luck.

Article in the G&M about yesterday's game, incl. quotes from Nana. The guy doesn't sound happy. Hopefully things will finally start settling down with this team...

whos Ryan Braun?

Outfielder for the Brewers. Real good, been waiting for an mvp type season from him. He had arguably the catch of last year, robbing a guy of a home run.

Ya - the second half of the Vancouver game was something. I have seasons in the south end right where the players leave the pitch. At half time I told Teal Bunbury that he'll never be as good as his dad. That made him grin. There was no grin on his face leaving the pitch after full time.
