There have been some rumblings that TrezeGOL has expressed specific interest in playing for TFC, including a direct quote!

"I would have to be a fool to ignore interest from Toronto. It's a beautiful city, especially on the first day of April."

snicker....

And I thought it was DeJong who was going to be the first signing in April, you know that Dutch connection, lol

you remember the game right?

The PKs were even, then Trezeguet missed the net (not a save, a MISS).
After that, everyone else made their shots (and Italy won the cup)

I stand by that statement, that Trezeguet's missed shot was what put Italy ahead.

People debate that it was Zidane who lost the match, but it wasn't. The game was dead even (point wise) until Trezeguet missed.

lmao... yeah i remember the game.... but look at the 5 italian shooters.. Matrix was the only question mark... Del Piero and Pirlo were locks.

But alas, its history now.

exactly. ALL of the italians were going to shoot on target (and most likely score).

All of the French guys except Trezeguet scored.

MAYBE (the big maybe) if Zidane was part of the PK instead of Trezeguet, things would have unfolded differently.

The one thing that is indisputable - Trez missed the mark, and that gave Italy the advantage.

Lots of tight games are decided by who makes the first mistake.
Sure the Zidane thing was a mistake, but not one refected on the score sheet.

I stand by my claim that Trezeguet lost the World Cup

Whatever, happened in the Final is irrelevant, what is relevant that Trezequet is a quality CF, who would do great in our present system.

If this is an April fools thing, it is like shooting fish in a barrel, we get rumours day in and day out, April 1st or not.

it's an april fools prank.

he'd never come here.

and if he DID come to Toronto, I'd forgive him for shooting high on his PK.

^ It would be a good April fool's prank if this was not a run of the mill thing around here.

First of all you should be looking at his incredible goal scoring tally in Italy then once you figure that out I'm certain you'll be relieved to know that no TFC player will ever have that opportunity for a WC final pk so don't worry about it.

Trezeguet will never come here. At best we are a bargaining chip so he can go back to Argentina.

Fwiw; he hit the bar, not a complete miss.

I remember explicitly because I was walking around Berlin afterwards asking English people if they thought it should have been awarded a goal a la 1966
