WINNING: BUTLER via batmans post: http://www.tsn.ca/blogs/noel_butler/?id=359379

speaks volumes for why it is Toronto FC lead the MLS Cultural League Table. Always have. No plastic supporters are these.

Seems it's not the exclusive domain of Liverpool supporters to be proud of their history.

I thought I had read that he was going back to Kaiserslautern to retire?

Strong rumour about Besiktas in Jan. but they aren't going to make even Europa league next year. Probably Kaiserslautern, he seems more of a guy to quietly retire at home instead of being a big shot abroad.

^^
That's what I gathered. I mean I thought I remember reading something that he likely knew this would be his last season at Bayern and would like to go back to the club where he first became famous and retire there.

Anyone see the sign the guy is holding at about 1:20 of the Season V Kickoff TFC TV video??
Thought it was kind of funny because he's holding it while getting a picture with Winter and has a huge smile on his face! Wonder what Winter was thinking...

Toronto FC dominated possession in Vancouver to a clip of 65%. The statistic is flattering, but hardly tells the story. Toronto’s possession was largely negative, consisting of the defensive line passing it back and forth, amongst each another. And when the ball advanced, there weren’t enough options in Red to attack with design. Vancouver sat back comfortably, letting Toronto meander as it pleased. Possession statistics are only significant when the majority of possession is coming from the midfield in attacking positions. The midfield needs to be better at finding space and holding up the ball. And the defenders need to be far better in distribution. Too many wayward passes killed the flow and meant attacks were played from passive positions.

Thank you. I hope this ends all the positive talk about how great we were in possession last week. It's not a positive statistic when your possession is being accomplished mostly by your defenders lollygagging in the defensive end.

LOL, I saw that. The guy was holding one of those armageddon type signs but instead the sign had TFC's record over the last four seasons.

in the second half id agree that there was a ton of back passing but in the first half (particularly the first 30 mins) no way. I was amazed to see we still had that much possession once the game was done but not at half time. once again im not defending the loss or the back passing but we really cannot downplay the amount of possession we did have in the first half

Yes, but better MLS teams than the Whitecaps would not allow us to dick around like that. We retained posession in our half of the pitch, and quite frankly shouldnt have. Our passes were weak and our first touch upon receiving those passes practically gifts the other team the opportunity to strip the ball from us.

Vancouver caught us out a few times, a better team would have flayed us.
