Everyone's dissapointed by yesterday's terrible loss to the Whitecraps, but Wynne made me shake my head again yesterday at how damn fast he truly is.

So, here, how fast is he anyway?

One run back in the first half yesterday was so fuckin' quick I was astounded. To bad he's not a striker. Could he learn ? :)

Nah.....we'd just end up with Cunny pt. 2. Pace with no finishing ability.

just as well he's fast and can get back quick as he's caught out of position so much

I never said he was a defensive genius, just said he was fucking fast.

And he plays with more passion and heart than Robert, Ricketts and Edu combined.

he's lucky he's so fast... he can't pass and he can't head a ball

He's so fast he has been investigated by the MLS Commissioner on the belief of hiding jet packs under his jersey!

he hustles like crazy. a lot of people on this board are always whining about "effort" by certain players. well you can't ever criticize Wynne for his effort. And he's also extremely effective at coming out of challenges with the ball.

he looked so focused and into the game yesterday. a joy to watch.

I read somewhere that he had a 10.2 sec. time for the 100 metres when he was in high school and is likely the fastest guy in MLS.

Agreed. He doesn't have that much skill with the ball....but I still like him as a player....and that speed does bring alot to the game at times..

10.2 is highly unlikely. I can believe high 10s...maybe 10.9 or 10.8. but 10.2 and we are talking Olympic qualifiers. With those times, he could be making 10x the money running on the circuit.

agreed. with a time of 10.2.. in highschool.. i think he'd be fighting off gatorade and powerade for contracts

high 10's is more likely

IIRC it was posted that he ran ten nineish as a sophmore...around 15?

That play in the 1st half when he tracked back to make a great defensive play was the moment of the match for me. He was literally a blur.

Marvell Wynne's so fast that no woman has ever faked an orgasm with him.

They haven't had time.

Yeah but what fun is it to run in a straight line for years?

He is so fast, he is fear by all land cats.

just fantastic yesterday the number of times he would catch up to the opposition with the ball, practically the only player that seemed interested in winning the match.

10.2s (10.20-10.29) happens in US high schools - it's really rare but still possible. There are a number of pro footie players with Olympic qualifying times so I don't doubt he was into the 10.5s.

I know, watching him catch that guy was unreal, he ran by him and took the ball before the guy even knew what happened....it is truly ridiculous how fast he is. Do you think he is top ten for fastest footballers on earth??

yup some people simply aspire to more than being the human equivalent of a triple crown participant.

"Wynne is the son of former San Diego Padres, Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago Cubs outfielder Marvell Wynne. He was a track and field star at Poway High School near San Diego -- he ran 21.87 seconds at 200 meters and 48.10 at 400 -- whose flank play at UCLA and with the U.S. under-20 national team turned heads here and abroad."

OK, looked into some other player's apparent times. I think 10.5s might be a little fast...Probably closer to what the other lads were saying 10.8 or 10.9

when Marvell played against Argentina last year, he didn't look quite as fast in comparison to Messi and the like. i guess when yer talkin good national teams, there are players with his speed... but in MLS he blows just about everybody out of the water.
if he could improve his positioning he'd be a sure bet for Europe.

If he ran a 21.87 in the 200 metre...there is no way he ran faster than a 10.8 in the 100 metre. He is WELL over the Olympic qualifiers in the 200...there is no way you are convincing me he is even close to the 100 metre qualifiers which I believe is 10.3.

Think about it. 10.8 x 2 = 21.6. He ran 21.87 on twice the distance. Surely he can more than half that for the 100, because endurance kicks in in the 200. Hes definitely at 10.5 or faster.

You can't "split" the 200 metre time my friend. Anyone who has had any experience with track knows that the 200 metre times are "faster" because there is no "start" lag in the 2nd half of the 200 metre. That's why the Olympic qualifying time for the 200...that is the bare minimum to compete in the games...is 20.59 and the overall world record is 19.32 a full 2 seconds (and then some!) under Wynne's time. Are you telling me for the 100 metre he is barely Olympic qualifying but for the 200 metre he is so much slower? I will buy that Wynne has sub-11 time but I highly doubt he is near Olympic qualifying.
