typical soccer weather for southern ontario.

for some number of reasons that mystify me, our sked is always padded with games in the first and last months when our weather is the worst.

someone hates us.

Awesome weather for the weekend, if you're out there playing. Sitting and watching on the other hand, not so much.

I think might have to pick up one of those wind breakers over at Adidas. Considering I just bought the new short sleeve jersey, it might be a tad cold out Saturday.

could be an epic day with the snow around. The worry would be if the club postpones based on access to and within the stadium being treacherous. Let's hope not - am looking forward to "singin' in the snow"

Walking in a WINTER wonderland.

Auzzy
03-23-2011, 08:44 AM
The pitch will likely be relatively warm & dry, due to the underground heating & drainage. But green & sturdy enough for footy? We shall see. As a next step, more & more clubs are bringing in sensor-controlled artificial lighting, with light in the right frequency for photosynthesis. This helps grass grow in the winter, extended cloudy weather, in trouble spots (like around the goals), and if the field is shaded due to steep stands or a roof. At least the last point shouldn't concern us... :-( Check out this series of 15 pictures: http://www.spiegel.de/fotostrecke/fotostrecke-65481.html

Just curious... who decides where and when the away team practices? I doubt they will be practicing at BMO before the game just to keep the pitch in good condition.

Also if the temperature is -2 or -3 the next couple of days does the coach decide to practice inside or is that something Paul Bierne handles for TFC?

Drove past the ground on Lakeshore this morning and there were a bunch of staff clearing snow from the aisles in the West stand, so it certainly looks like the club wants the match to go ahead and have the walkways safe to use.
The pitch would be the least of our worries with the fancy new undersoil heating gizmos.

now its -1, with a WC of -11.

oh well, i take this as one of out home field advantages. It'll be a couple of degree's colder than the Portland's January average low, and 8-10 degree (before windchill) colder than the temp there today.
