From the timeline...
Nov. 24, 2010: Five players waived: striker Mista, midfielders Gabe Gala and Martin Saric, and defenders Maxim Usanov and Raivis Hscanovics.

Dec. 3, 2010: Options declined on striker Fuad Ibrahim, midfielder Amadou Sanyang and defender Nick Garcia.

As far as I can tell... not a single 1 of the 8 above players has yet to find a job.

That's how crap we've been!

Time to turn this ship around boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I spoke to bunch of the Whitecaps yesterday, including Thor and Jay Demerit. They are really rallying around this game - kind of a Cup Final feel for them...

From what they said, they aren't playing passive, aren't going to try and 'hold the fort', its attack and win and get off to a good start...

Great energy around the stadium yesterday, and last night at the Canucks game, everyone was talking about the match (in the media area, and in the stadium at the pubs etc) - with media guys getting passes to go watch etc...

Bad Note: its not sold out, and some of the seats are tarped - so the stadium has tickets available..

interesting, loan moves? :

“We got offered a player from Scotland the other day, and I immediately rang Terry Butcher, who’s my long-time mate, and he gave me an instant assessment. It helps having someone you respect and trust – so (the staff) is working on putting all that stuff together,” said Mariner.

Looking at that timeline article in the Star kind of makes me wonder if Winter would of kept any of the players that we let go. I wonder if Mista would have been better suited for the Winter style game.

I love the Paul Mariner article. It inspires confidence in the long term aspirations of the club.

Mariner has always looked fondly on Toronto since the club joined MLS in 2007. And really, Mariner should have joined the club a lot earlier than now. He knows, and loves, the game and has a passion for the sport in its rawest form. While in New England, Mariner admits he was envious of the TFC fan-base, the atmosphere at BMO Field and the city of Toronto, itself.

“It’s a grand job, and it’s a great job , so when Aron Winter says to me that we need a right back, central midfield player or a striker, the goal is for me to be able to dial up 10 players that we can get for this, this, or this.”

Mariner applauds the “remarkable” job done by Toronto FC Academy director Stuart Neely and former Academy head coach Jason Bent for the work they’ve done setting the club up for the future. With more resources and a $17.5 million commitment for a new training facility and Academy home in the works, Mariner believes Toronto FC is just hitting its stride.

“With all the diversity in Ontario, it’s foolish of us to not look on our doorstep for players.” he said.

what's the stadium like? It looks good inside, but I believe it's just scaffolding underneath and porto-potties outside, right?

The stadium was built on the cheap and was only designed to be a temporary home for the BC Lions and Whitecaps until BC Place renovations are complete. You're right though, it looks good on the inside...

You are 100% spot on...

Inside, its great! Has a feel of a small British stadium - "boxy" with a roof etc...

But, its literally scaffolding wrapped in white fabric with logos on it...

The dressing rooms are trailers. TFC's room is literally a trailer with folding chairs...

Porto-potties and mobile food stands...

To be fair - it is temporary, but they will miss the feel inside the stadium when they move...

From the North End, you have view of the small scoreboard and the mountains in the background...

There's about 15-yards from the goal line to the end stands - as the pitch is long enough for CFL. That will take alot of the "bite" out of the supporters end as there's a "buffer zone" between the fans and match...

It isn't. It's good.
But it's a 27,000 seat stadium, so that sellout would have been great.

yes, you certainly do get the feeling like it may be a little tougher a sell than it has been here.

^^^ Meh... bunch of people taking the safe route and giving nearly unanimous decisions to the home team. Only TWO dissenting opinions in the whole thing? Bleh.
