Im going to say that Nicholas Lindsay will surprise with 4 or 5 goals in the handful of starts he gets along with appearances off the bench.

Interesting pick, I don't know how he'll do that when he's out for the season, and potentially the rest of his career with a serious knee injury.

I'm gonna pick Santos to have a breakout year.

Ok. I'll be the first to step under the anvil.

My diamond in the rough is..... JDG.

wait wait, i know... he is the DP, not necessarily what this thread is about. But he also has been below expectations. I am hoping that having Aron Winter a former DM will know how to get the best out of JDG. If he can't, I really think no one can and this should be his last season with the club.

Aside from that, I'm hoping Martina will be a pleasant improvement this year.

Dan "Release the Gargan" Gargan

Andrew Ornoch if he signs.

If not, Gianluca Zavarise.

i like Martina - clever player who may not score a lot of goals but methinks he will create some ooohs and aaahs.

And that little 4 foot guy - plata?

Just based on a few internet game viewings and some positive comments here and there from the coaching staff I am going to guess that Omphroy has the potential to really make an impression. I think all the guys that were here last year are going to bring more of the same that they brought the year before with maybe the exception of Peterson who I think will be improved. We will live or die based on whether our new signings will cope in the MLS. Hoping for the best...

I doubt Gargan plays much under Winter. He doesn't overrate hard work. So i might have to retire my number 8 jersey.

I say Maicon Santos. Not sure if he'd be considered a diamond in the rough though.

Ok, that Sturgis kid.

Winter is pretty high on Gargan... I personally saw that in SC on the sidelines and bench... slight rumor was that he was a little hurt and had taken a minor knock that was doing just enough to make him uncomfortable

i don't see one, but i'll look hard in midfield, there's the place to find one eventually.

not back, not forward.

I hope you're right. That jersey was a very expensive, drunken impulse buy.

How could it not be Plato, I guess he has to make the team yet. I fear he is on the bubble.

i think omphroy will win that RB position and eventually become full time starter

i hope alan gordon and maicon santos have good seasons and compliment dero with some goals

also any of the academy kids could crack the lineup sometime this year with good results in the reserve league

Diamonds? None.

A few nice sparkly cubic zirconia, though.

Attakora is our diamond in the rough in terms of the bigger picture.

If Omphroy gets to play alot hopefully he can have a nice little season, then there is also Santos but that's because if he does have a good season it means he scored a fair bit and we need it.

I am beginning to have my doubts about Attakora becoming a star. An MLS regular starter I think is pretty likely, but he has not developed technical skills to complement his physical abilities.

I think TFC's diamond in the rough will be Zavarise. I think the most pleasant surprise among returning players will be JDG.

Someone who can score goals. So that we win. Rather than losing. All the time.

In all seriousness, I like Santos a lot but would really like to see Plata do well.

I also predict we're going to give up more than a few goals because of the backpass-to-Frei strategy we employ every minute. It'll either be that the pass is flubbed, scooped by an opponent and they score, or the pass is flubbed, scooped by an opponent who then gets brought down by one of our backline and the resulting freekick is a goal.

For all of Winter's pedigree, I would love to see a coach train the team successfully at both scoring and defending set pieces. Wouldn't that be something?

JDG!

He can't do worse can he?
No no, I'm sure this year he'll show us why he was given a DP spot/money.
