Yeah, not much in terms of road trips there.

I guess there's always Montreal.

But from a MLS perspective the only one viable one for numbers I see there is DC.

Might do Portland.

We always head to Boston - kind of bummed that's a Wednesday. And was hoping to head to NYC this year but same issue.

not due to law.

You can purchase directly from Vancouver FO once they announce details. However you are not guaranteed you would sit with TFC supporters. To sit with us we sell internally.

This is done so that we can ensure members get first crack at away tickets sitting with fellow supporters. We can also see who is going and organize respectively.

Vancouver FO has not formally published any details for away supporters...rumour has it expect some interesting terms.

Boy they really like to front load us with the freezing early home games.

That works out fine for now...but note to the FO, Beware accepting this all the time , cause one of these days the LOAFs will make a playoff run and it will be overwhelming. like when US teams play at the start of the NFL season.

Overall i think we have been listened too quite well by the team as most people asked for evening games.

Dare i say our club is off to a decent start in the off season on all fronts.
...and i am astonished. :-0

I don't mind at that at all. In fact, it's better to get them happening early when our hopes are still high. Come September, if they aren't in a solid playoff position, attendance will tank (and tank like we've never seen before). At least with the early games we're still high on the promise of good things to come.

I like going to games as much as anyone (or more), but when a match is on day 2 of a 3 day weekend, it really demands that you keep from making any other plans. I like having a match on the Monday of a 3 day weekend, or even the Saturday.... but 4:00pm on Sunday was killer.

the other reason for frontloading is what if TFC wins the Voyageurs Cup? then we've got play-in games, and if TFC makes the group stage of CL again, then we've got a number of games in August/September again.

not really...the ASG is in week 20 of 30 game weeks. so the ratio is about right.ASG game is July 27th??

But CONCACAF Champions League preliminary games are July 26-July 28. So no Dallas, Seattle, or Toronto (knock on wood) players at All-Star game again.

Am I alone in thinking is a 29 June date v. Whitecaps is dumb? Neither of us are playing on the following weekend - why not play it on Canada Day?

We don't have the schedule yet, but the NCC finals on Canada Day would be a nice idea if it's a one-game final (do we have any idea of the format this year?). The prelim stage for CCL didn't start until late July last year.

not due to law.

You can purchase directly from Vancouver FO once they announce details. However you are not guaranteed you would sit with TFC supporters. To sit with us we sell internally.

This is done so that we can ensure members get first crack at away tickets sitting with fellow supporters. We can also see who is going and organize respectively.

Vancouver FO has not formally published any details for away supporters...rumour has it expect some interesting terms.

ya, to me it's not really the fault of the GO schedule or TFC, but the fans.

I mean, do people on a Saturday need to stay at home until the very last train into town? and then leave seconds after the game? Where are people going that's so important? It's not like a weeknight when you have to arrive from work. Seems like everyone is trying to be so damn efficient... just chill... it's a saturday.

I always show up at least an hour before. On a Saturday this is not an inconvenience, as I have nothing else to do from 6-7pm. So I catch the 5:36 from Clarkson, arrive at Exhibition at 6, take about 10 minutes to stroll in and grab some food, eat in my seat til about 6:20.. watch the warmups (heckle the opposition who warms up directly in front of my seats), go take a piss, chat with friends, and by then the game is about to start.

Although there have been improvements, I think the schedule is a disgrace!

The good: more weekend night games; no games on WCQ days in Sept and Oct

The bad: LA Galaxy home/away games should be switched. The home game (Wed, April 13) comes after an away game at San Jose (April 9) while the away game (Sat, June 11) is sandwiched between a previous game at home on June 4 to KC and away game on the June 15 at NE Rev...@ houston on Sat, July 9, home to Dallas on Wed, July 20, @ KC on Sat, July 23...why isn't the Dallas game on July 16 on a Saturday; give the sched some balance

The ugly: Chicago away match on a Sunday night; NYRB AGAIN on a Wed night; is the MLS have a goal to kill away support; those (especially NYRB) might have been the biggest away travel support games...Only 1 home game in July and 4 total from July 1st until September 30...the all-star game on July 27 while it is still during the preliminary stages of Champs League meaning there are probably 3 teams that cannot send all-stars

Good aritcle, I think they should have also mentioned the MLS schedule goes right over top of the Gold Cup schedule inculding the finals

June 18 Gold Cup 1/4 final and 8 MLS games
June 19 Gold Cup 1/4 final and 1 MLS game
June 22 Gold Cup semi finals and 2 MLS games
June 25 Glod Cup final and 6 MLS games

I know MLS can't completely avoid the Gold Cup but avoiding the final would be nice.

But if I was taking the Via train to Ottawa the last one of the evening leaves Union @ 18:35!! So Go Train @ 18:00. If the game started at 16:00 ... well you see what I mean :(

Really like the schedule. Day games during the cooler months and night games during the warmer months.

Finally I won't have to sit in the boiling sun. It just drains the energy of the place during those hot days. Plus, I'm sure the players hated it to. Atmosphere is always better at night.

There is one thing I don't like though. Why are we playing Vancouver on a Wed? pfff

Very strange that the opening day game at Vancouver is at 7pm EST.

It's pretty much the premier event on the whole schedule, yet it's going head to head with HNIC who have the Leafs vs Boston that night. Seems dumb to compete with hockey for such a big game.

Why night play it earlier in the day, at 12.30 or 1.00 PST? You'd stay away from the NHL, plus it would make sense to start midday given that it could be very damp/chilly in Vancouver at that time of the year...

They got the highest ratings because they were on CBC, they were home games, and they were on Saturdays. Having the games at 4:00 pm had nothing to do with it. In all honesty, it probably hampered them from what could've been even better ratings. The whole "Saturday night" feeling that makes hockey night in Canada so famous and popular will translate well for TSN and Canadian MLS teams.

It doesn't really matter what other leagues around the world do. If TSN, and the MLS for that matter, want to capture that 18-35 demographic that everybody clamours for, they need to do things that resonate well with what people are used to in Canada and the US, which is prime time telecasts.

Boban is right. People tend to do things and get out of the house on summer nights on Saturdays.

HNIC bucks that trend because it has created a tradition and Canadians are programmed to plan their weekends around catching a hockey game between 7-10 pm on a Saturday.

If you don't believe me, take a look at what's on TV during a Saturday night. Its all garbage. There's a reason why networks show their best programs from Sunday-Thursday, because that's when they have a chance for the best audiences. Friday and Saturday are the two worst nights for TV. If you are trying the grow a program, the last place you want to have it is on Saturday night.

Sorry if this is a stooopid question but...
if we have two partial pack choices then are the tickets to these home games simply on the schedule as 1,2 1,2 1,2 or is it possible that the front office will get more creative with assigning them to try and get a mix of those "premium" game thingys??

When will we know the allocations of which games to which ticket pack? Anyone??

i got the season finale partial pack, and asked the question to TFC, got 'unofficial' sched below ... they said official info will be in a few days ... but, i'm wondering, if there are 17 home MLS games, and each pack has 8, then which game is not included in either pack?

anyways, i'll be in section 110, row 9 for these games ... hope it's crazy there, unlike the boring season seats i share in 105 (well, mostly boring except for those rare times when the away supporters section in 104 actually has away supporters in it)

also, i love a night game as much as most, but there is something special to be said for those sunny afternoons games that i will miss this summer ... a different atmosphere at nite to be sure, but any complaints about watching or playing in the sun and heat are just silly, we just don't get enough of those summer days in canada to make it worth complaining about them

Season Finale Package
Sat April 2nd, 1:00pm vs Chivas
Wed April 13th, 8:00pm vs LA Galaxy
Nutrilite Canadian Championship TBD
Sat May 7th, 7:00pm vs Houston
Sat May 28th, 7:00pm vs Philidephia

Interesting stuff.

I think, in general, TSN want this as a Saturday night property, because right now it's a dead zone for them (and everyone else, as previous posters say). Wouldn't surprise me at all to see a "Soccer Night in Canada", or similar, branding by them.

I would have thought you'd put Toronto-Vancouver, season opener, first ever game for the Whitecaps, in a better slot than head to head than against a powerhouse sports franchise event.

On the other hand, TSN may try to hurt CBC by promoting the hell out of this game and really take viewers away from the Leafs. It would be an out-of-the-gate test of their power, if they try that.

The Toronto-Vancouver game is at 3:30 PDT (so basically an afternoon game for Van City, and I think TSN could have kept it there for their broadcast to try and take people away from CBC during the crappy "Scotia Hockey Tonight" pre-game)

Canadians are programmed to catch a "sports" game between 7-10 pm on a Saturday night. That sport, which currently is only hockey, can be reprogrammed to catch a different sport in that same time slot.

Also, I never disputed how Saturdays have bad Tv ratings. I'm not an idiot, I know what days of the weeks have good tv ratings. However, all you have is evidence that tv ratings are bad on Saturday nights while I have evidence that tv ratings for a certain sport's broadcast is good on Saturday nights. It is hard to say who's going to come out on top. If the ratings haven't improved by mid season and I am wrong on this, I will glady share two pitchers with you at Scotland Yard, my dollar. If I'm correct, it's your dollar.
