Good morning.

I am glad the women took a stand, they do deserve to be treated better.

and yet they are still ranked in the top 10 in the world. . ashotinishing.

I hope this ends qwell and the continued press exposure helps their cause. . . what a shocking story.

I have a feeling the women's story is going to end poorly......I would be surprised if the CSA caves on this matter....but I hope I am wrong and they can get it solved quickly.

Compare and contrast....US WNT players compensation---> : http://www.soccertimes.com/usteams/2006/women/jan04.htm

The contract, negotiated by the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team Players' Association, calls for the U.S. Soccer Federation to pay at least $1.28 million annually to players in a residency, Associated Pres reported. At least 14 of these 20 players would be guaranteed annual salaries of $70,000 with the six others assured of being paid at least $50,000.

Additionally, players would earn $1,000 bonuses (http://www.soccertimes.com/usteams/2006/women/jan04.htm#) for victories in all non-World Cup and non-Olympic games, AP reported. For the 2007 Women's World Cup and the 2008 Olympics, each player would get $10,000 for being on each qualifying tournament roster; $10,000 for making the 20-woman roster for each tournament, $50,000 for finishing first in each event, $20,000 for placing second and $10,000 for taking third place.

The CSA should already have sacked themselves. Now we need to wait 4 years!

No significant corporate sponsorships.... funding through charging kids fees... = no real money for players and programs.

SSG: She's cute:) #21 is mouth-watering:drool:

USWNT: Goddamn thats not bad for a female footballer. I think it was the Jamaicans or Trinidians that boycotted in the World Cup 2006 and eventually got paid $12,000/game for each player.

As long as we're not sponsored by Coca-Cola or Nutrilite. No to Molson as well.

It's unfortunate since the CSA could choose to keep Morace and the girls would play without any raise in pay.

I wonder how many goals it will take this year for him to get "fans" to stop taking pot shots at him and to refer back to him as the best, most important player to ever wear a tfc jersey.

Now having said that, his most unproductive season came with the Houston Dynamo sporting the same hair-do. Coincidence? I sure hope so.

well yes, but to keep Morace, there's probably player payment issues that they'd have to address. At least I'd imagine that would be one of Morace's concerns

depends on how many dumb things he says in public and how many cheques he signs after scoring goals. and depends on whether he's a team player or a freelancer as he was last year. and if he holds out, look out.

GREAT for the Canadian Women. They gained so much respect from me today. I'd like to see the Mens team join in solidarity (god knows they have their own issues with the CSA), sadly with the 'leadership' of that team I doubt they get involved. Ah well. Hopefully the women on their own will be strong enough. Who knew they'd have more balls then every soccer person in this country?

I for one will not stop taking pot shots at him if he scores goals (see pot shot above). I don't care if he scores 25 this year, I'll still criticize his character. He can stop me from taking pot shots by being a good teammate/member of the club, and showing through his actions that his goal isn't to score as many goals as he possibly can, but to help TFC win as many games as they possibly can. That's not necessarily the same thing

Another reason the CSA needs to be obliterated. Makes me feel for the men's team players that agonize over which country to play for. :hide:

Seriously.... what can we do as a collective?

At this point? Wait 4 years until the current board members finish enjoying their free flights to and hospitality suites at the women's world cup.

Also, pressure them to fill the appointed positions with qualified soccer and business people.

Show up and support Canada anyway, because more money will be available to them...even if the CSA Board will be skimming off the top still.

Short of starting new local organizations and bypassing those in power, the only thing you really can do is keep on keeping on.

You can boycott anything that gives them funds or protest at games etc. but I don't think you can shift the fuckers in place with a hand grenade at the moment.

It sort of reminds me of Scottish football, run by dinosaurs who are more interested in self-preservation than modernizing and improving football in the country
