I've always said it's that first touch that separates top pros from average

I agree... you can tell a lot about a players skill from the first two seconds they get the ball.

SSG looks like some kind of 'FemBot' from an Austin Powers movie.

More importantly, Canada remains 8th in CONCACAF, the bare minimum for a World Cup Qualifier seeded group spot in the 1st Group Stage (change in qualification process this year).

That is big for Canada. The CMNT can't afford to have any extra obsticles in their way.

I'm enjoying the TFC trianing vid's.

Whitecaps beat Salt Lake in 1st exhibition match

It was only exhibition, but Vancouver Whitecaps head coach Teitur Thordarson got a chance to see his players in game action for the first time Tuesday.
Russell Teibert of Niagara Falls, Ont., and Terry Dunfield of Vancouver scored as the Whitecaps beat Real Salt Lake 2-1 in a Major League Soccer training match in Casa Grande, Ariz.
Thordarson, who used as many players as he could in the match's three 45-minute periods, was generally happy with what he saw.

One can look at it that way. Another way would be they've seeded us into the worst group again and we play less games to qualify ie get less points from competition.

Thordarson and Jason Kreis discussed prior to the game that they wanted to get a look at as many players as possible so they mutually agreed to play 3 periods.

“We wanted to get everyone about 65 minutes,” RSL head coach Jason Kreis told ESPN700 Sports Radio when explaining the unusual format.

http://whitecapsfc.com/news/2011/02/whitecaps-fc-win-first-preseason-match-mls-club

"With both sides keen to look at the many players they have in camp at present, the 'Caps and RSL agreed to a 135-minute match that was played in three periods of 45 minutes each. This allowed 25 members of the Blue and White squad some valuable game action versus an established MLS opponent."
