According to Mariner, there will be several players from all four corners of the globe joining the club in the coming weeks. In stark contrast to the Mo Johnston era, no information has been leaked to the media as Mariner and Winter have quietly gone about their business preparing to bolster the roster...

TFC NEW BOSS: I thought there was only one boss? So now there's 2? Interesting to see Sportsnet and other media keep referring to Mariner as the new boss.

Winter reports to Mariner. So yes, there are two bosses at two different levels. You know, kinda like a manager and director relationship?

Winter reports to Mariner.
Actually, it is the other way around:

Serving under Winter will be Englishman Paul Mariner, who was named director of player development.

I wouldn't worry about headline - they often get those wrong. The actualy caption for the video says "New Toronto FC director of player development Paul Mariner sits down with Sportsnet."

Mariner reports to Winter. That said, with our history they both were likely told they were the boss.

Yeah - an error in a headline on a website not related to TFC is a clear indication that TFC are incompetent

Before I forget David Hoilett had a great goal for Blackburn and Attiba Hutchinson scored a goal in the Eredivisie for PSV Eindhoven. Good Weekend.

It's ok, It's De Ro's fault for finding Canada cold in the dead of winter...

Doesn't change the fact that there are two bosses in camp. One reports to the other. Why is that so hard to understand?

Highlight reel goal for sure. I hope the kid can continue his development into a solid footballer. There has been so much promise around him.

It would be easy if it wasn't for the history of this organization - there have been many behind-the-scenes power struggles with their other teams and TFC is trying to get over four years of poor management. So far there's no reason not to give these guys the benefit of the doubt, but it will take people a while to get over what's gone on here. Remember, they're, "still learning" how to run a team.

The bottom line is that the buck stops with Winter. Mariner was brought in because of his MLS experience and to help Winter adapt to a completely different league structure than Europeans are used to. I'm sure that they'll have a working relationship thats based on a sense of equality and mutual respect, but at the end of the day the glory/fault lies with Winter.

Wasn't there an article on the TFC site that said there'd be a lot of news on Monday (today)?

good to see a bit more mainstream media exposure. Ben deserves a lot of credit for all his work.

Milan is a cool dude I played with him many times but I'm sorry to say that he was never on the Serbian national team radar.

I'm glad hes getting a call up for Canada, I think he will do well.
