Technical director Nick De Santis bluntly says any player in an Impact uniform this season will be playing for a job in 2012 when the team jumps to Major League Soccer.
"We're a professional organization that's always had high expectations, has always looked to do well," De Santis said yesterday. "Good performance results in success. The players and coaching staff as well have to be motivated. If they get results, of course their chances of getting to the next level are better."

Good article on the Limp Act's preparations for MLS.

Impact president Joey Saputo described the atmosphere surrounding the club's move to MLS as "confusing" and "exciting."

interesting info from Saputo:

The operating budget of the team last year was about $6 million. It will be significantly higher in 2012.
"It looks like our first year in MLS will be closer to $12 million-$13 million for operations," Saputo said.

The salary cap in the MLS next year is expected to be about $3.3 million.

Any idea what TFC's operation budget was in year one? What it is now?

Dunno.
I have never heard anyone running an MLS team speak to the press so openly on that. Saputo is the first. People are usually scouring old powerpoints and other docs to piece together that number and he just comes out and says it.

Gotta love Joey, he always says what's on his mind. He must be driving the MLS FO crazy.

Interesting that only 20% of a club without a DP's spending goes on player salaries. That's quite low when compared with Europe.

A lot of those operational costs are fixed, though, and probably as low as they can be.

It is going to be fun to see Joey in MLS - they may yet regret letting him in but I'm glad they did :D.

Gotta love those bold statements from a guy who is pretty much the cheese man's lap dog.

Garber wanted Saputo bad enough. Let him live with it. Besides, if Garber thinks Saputo's trouble, wait 'till they invite the Cosmos gang into MLS.
