January 20, MLS Commisioner Don Garber announced that MLS and SUM have appointed a first-ever Chief Marketing Officer, J. Russell Findlay, who will be responsible for all marketing, branding and consumer understanding initiatives. Findlay, 45, has 20 years of marketing experience with PepsiCo and Unilever and served as director of marketing for all soft drink innovation. Findlay launched and ran the $1 billion Sierra Mist brand, with oversight in brand positioning, sports sponsorship strategy and advertising and media startegy. He oversaw numerous Super Bowl advertising campaigns, two of which won EFFIE awards for effective advertising.

We need a rating scheme so we can factor in all personal bias's, photographer duficity, ratio of silicon-to-areola, and overmakeup'ization. This standardized rating will then give us an undeniable and defacto number.

rating =

(Picture with makeup - Picture without makeup) divided by
( Picture with bikini - Picture with a moo moo ) times
( picture in studio - picture with a polaroid ) to the power of
(Number of components with half life of more than 200 years)

Easy peasy.

.... I should get to work.

I'm with you. The fake tits were nice but I thought there was something real weird with her face. Whatever, it's nothing I'm sure a scouting trip to Whiskeys wouldn't resolve.

SSG is a wonderfully yummy porn star, if she isn't she should be. :)

I'm reading a great book right now by Beau Dure as well. It's called Long Term Goals, the History of MLS. Something that most people here should read. Especially if your first real experience of MLS was TFC. Gives a lot of history as to why the rules are the way they are, lawsuits, players union, the investors, Garber, etc. Very good read.

Written by a former employee of the Alberta Soccer Association.

n fact, I had never met a group of more corrupt individuals until I started working at my last job. The individuals I am referring to are all board members. As an association administrator, I was the one to receive their expense claims: personal communications equipment, car washes, gift shop purchases, excessive cell phone bills unrelated to the association, frequent Starbucks orders for one, unnecessary flights, valet parking. None of this is allowed for in the association policies. However, since they were the ones ultimately approving the claims, the association monies were spent.

When these untrustworthy board members illegally suspended the president and fired the executive director with unjust cause (major litigation as a result) in order to support the corrupt parent association at the national level, I would go to work each day unprepared for the new levels of evil, corrupt behaviour that I witnessed. I was personally threatened by these board members that I would be fired if I spoke to certain individuals in the association. They publicly berated several staff members. They refused the majority of the membership that asked them to step down and that unanimously voted to remove the board members responsible. They fired over half a dozen staff members (of a staff of ten) without cause–two of them were fired a second time even after a judge had reinstated the staff to their positions (without cause the second time, as well). The board members withheld medals from kids at soccer provincials because the Districts the kids played in had paid their money to a trust account at a law firm (the bank accounts were frozen); the board actually paid a security guard to sit at the doors of the equipment room where the medals were stored.

On many, many occasions, these corrupt, untrustworthy board members have betrayed the association By-Laws, lied to cover up injudicious behaviour, initiated court activity, illegally suspended several members, and refused to adhere to the desires of the membership. I can’t say why they have done these things, but I have many speculations. What I do know is that they are untrustworthy. They are the ones put in charge of a $3.4 million organisation by thousands of people who want to play soccer at a grassroots level and a few who might make it to national tournaments, and they are concerned about expensing bluetooths and car washes. They have irreparably harmed soccer in Alberta, and there is nothing the membership can do without expending thousands of its own dollars to make this tyranny stop.

There's more, but I suggest reading the article.

They should have various federal agencies audit the ASA including Revenue Canada.

I haven't followed the situation too closely, but the ASA has been the source of problems/controvercies for a long time now...they always seem to be at odds with other provinces and the CSA.

"CMSA, CSF, EMSA only votes nay. CUSA abstains. We wait for the tally. #sgmasa "

Vote is underway, board may be removed and replaced in the next 20 minutes.

If everything goes according to plan, the ASA should have a pro-reform board, and a provincial board in which District Association Board members are not permitted on the board (removing some of the Conflict of Interest problems). That's what we want to do to the CSA as well. No provincial board members should be permitted to sit on the CSA national board due to conflicts of interest.

Analysis from those who are following the situation more closely than I:

Great - bad news for Colin with CUSA abstaining, should be good majority depending if all members are there. Would be 16 in favour plus 3 associations.

Motion to remove Mr Charpentier has carried 219 for 99 against 18 abstained.

Now Regina is there opposition to have

ASA District Board Member be promoted to the Provincial board? As long as they do not hold both positions at once is there an issue?

I wouldn't be opposed to the same promotion with Province to National..

All I know is you can't be both. Or you won't be able to be both if the vote passes today. It's the vote that follows all the board of director removals.

Not MLS news but does effect North American soccer -

The US Soccer Federation apparently is not giving their sanction to NASL to operate as the division two league. This is after giving them provisional sanction in November. Details are sketchy at this point but likely NASL and the NASL teams didn't meet the financial criteria adopted by USSF last year to put Div 2 on a better operational footing. Could throw a wrench into the Impact's MLS rollout if they go dark in 2011.
