okay, so according to the star article it really looks like Mariner is going to be the next coach. I really hope his stay here is longer than 1 year and he's able to turn this ship around. I'm still waiting for the official word before getting somewhat excited about a positive move being done by FO.

To me that sounds more like Dobson hoping and speculating as well. It may happen, but I don't get the feeling that there's any insider information behind that.

I have to say....there is a world of difference in my mind if this is Nichol + Mariner vs. Mariner on his own. Might be stating the obvious but that is how I see it. Mariner and the Coch is a B team. You add Nichol in there and its an A- team.

I am just finding it difficult to believe that TFC can pull off getting them both, especially with all the leaks of late. Unless Nichol contacted them and threw his hat in the ring recently.

You're probably right, I'm just hoping he does have some insider information. Reports surfaced that an anonymous new GM candidate emerged recently and perhaps Nicol is that mystery candidate...

..... about a year too late for my liking. I called for this in 2009. I will not rejoice as there is still lots of pieces missing in this puzzle.:facepalm:

This just goes to show that the fans of the club know more about the direction the club should be taking than the actual management of the club.:picard:

Star players have holdouts and conflicts with Management all the time. Its not pleasant, its tough on the fans, but at the end of the day I want us to have the best possible roster possible...

There's a ton of players all over the world that I dislike, but would put them in a TFC jersey in a heartbeat...

De Ro is still one of the best, if not the best Attacking Mids in the MLS. I would take him back. All you have to is partner him up and let him play behind a good striker/CF and we have offence. Again I do not give a shit that he tried to play for celtic, I like the fact that Celtic would look at him.

I want him back, but I would not make him captain... People will say "...what about fielding the best team etc etc...", your captain does not have to be your best player - in fact that should have nothing to do with it...

Captain criteria are completely different - as long as your captain is in your top-11, leadership on/off the pitch, respect from officials (very important), and respect from management take the lead etc...

Not sure I agree with you about Nicol. He's been at New England since 2002 and NE has been in the play-offs all but one single time (this year). They made the MLS Cup final 4 times (lost all times though). Nicol knows this league and has a resume second to none in this league. We'd be lucky to have him!
