The teams will meet at Empire Field in Vancouver on Saturday, March 19. It will be the first time two Canadian clubs have faced each other in MLS.

Following the “First Kick” in Vancouver, Toronto will play their home opener at BMO Field on Saturday, March 26 against another expansion team, Portland Timbers. The kick off times for both matches will be announced at a later date.

First game in a temp stadium on Field Turf, yuck. But first two games against expansion teams. I predict very large TFC fan rage if we don't get at least 4 points those first two games.

i posted this up in the away trip section:

Deluxe 2 Queens - CAD 109.00 (https://booking.ihotelier.com/istay/istay.jsp?__utma=198422079.787974821.1290112838.12 90112838.1290112838.1&__utmb=198422079.1.10.1290112838&__utmc=198422079&__utmz=198422079.1290112838.1.1.utmcsr%3Dgoogle%7C utmccn%3D%28organic%29%7Cutmcmd%3Dorganic%7Cutmctr %3Dempire+fields+hotels&CAKEPHP=7eb2905eaa3054d3099e4bf77f89f719&HotelID=13586&LanguageID=1&DateIn=04%2F18%2F2011&Length=1)
$698.47 >> approximate flight there and back + tax.
youre looking at a little over $800.

i'm sure a deal can be reached with both the hotel close to empire field and AC to get us there. mix that in with an appeal for funds from either club to get us up there and you got yourself a trip.

i can easily see this going down to anywhere under $600 per person.

It has the potential to be a very embarrassing first week for TFC. :o

Glad to see them open in Vancouver though. The additions of Vancouver and Montreal should do wonders for tv ratings. Especially all Canadian match-ups on CBC.

Now we just need to fill in the other parts to the game... like a coach, and players to play on the day.

Not sure how good it is, as I don't do crack myself, but I'm sure you can get as much as you want down at Hastings and Main.

well at least the team could be in Vancouver for a few days before the game. that would be better for them than travelling to VAN mid season

this league cannot be taken seriously!!! so their back end will be loaded with home fixtures? LOL.

its like near the end of the year and one team has three games in hand over another. What a joke!!!

KC's stadium isn't ready, that's why.

But why they didn't stay at that stickball stadium (like Philly did with Lincoln Financial Field, or what Vancouver's doing with Empire Field), puzzles me.

Community America = 10k seats

New KC Stadium = 18,500 seats

Simple answer to the question...money talks, and with the rebrand i guess they want out with the old. It does make sense

uncle p
12-20-2010, 07:02 PM
Exactly, if their stadium isnt ready than they should keep playing at their current home or make other arrangements.

this is MLS though, its completly possible they just mucked it right up and actually planned it like this HAHAHA

Azerban
12-20-2010, 07:03 PM
why stay at the shit stadium when the league will literally make a mockery of its scheduling process for you so you can play every game at your new stadium, and you get to stay at home for three straight months at the same time

yeah if your KC, or the league for that matter. Its little things like this that give people the impression MLS is a Mickey Mouse league.

Hard to take MLS seriously with stupid shit like that.

And everyone playing the attendance card, after the home opener the attendance will go back to being abysmal.

Of the four seasons we've played so far, we have opened on the road every year, and finished the season on the road 3 times.

I think it would be fair of MLS that if you open on the road, you should close at home.

Of those 8 games we've won 2, drawn 1 and lost 5 8 goals for, 19 goals against.

April 7, 2007 Chivas USA 2 – 0 Toronto FC
October 20, 2007 Toronto FC 2 – 2 New England Revolution

October 25, 2008 San Jose Earthquakes 2 – 0 Toronto FC

March 21, 2009 Kansas City Wizards 2 – 3 Toronto FC
October 24, 2009 New York Red Bulls 5 – 0 Toronto FC

I wonder why MLS does not do a system similar to other leagues where you alternate each week home and away.....geography maybe? It would be more fair that way...

WOW!
AT VANCOUVER!
Our Bastards in the West are still in shock over this one.
I was going to go to Charleston, SC again this year but seeing as how the Charlie Cup ends on the 12th and then we're in Vancouver on the 19th I am in NO WAY able to go to both...so...it's VANCOUVER for me this year.
