Rough translation, i could be off a bit, but i got that its a player that we have tried to sign on loan. then it says that we have already agreed terms with him.

The confusing part is that he then says preki was the one that saw him in a game between peru and canada and he was the one that wants him signed...

not sure how "new" this news is, although the date is very new....

Also one of the comments says something like, who cares if that undisciplined player leaves......

Way too much mention of Preki in that article.

web translate -

The president of Juan Aurich , Edwin Oviedo , have accepted the proposal that Reimond Manco is provided to Toronto FC , which would allow the striker, who still has a contract with the "Cyclone" to continue his career in Major League Soccer .

According to sources close to Chiclayo team, the Toronto FC , who play in the American league, and reached an agreement with the player and would only be pending approval of Oviedo.

Predrag Radosavljević , Toronto FC coach known simply as "Preki" , was playing "Rei" in the party that the Peruvian football like Canadian defeated her, 2-0 , and is who would have requested that the player passes the rows of your computer.

Re: Juan Aurich player.

The link is down now but according to twitter some summaries I'm reading and twitter messages, it would only be a loan.

Manco is a very decent player by Peruvian standards. He comes from a respected youth academy, known around S.A. (Cantolao). He showed a lot of promise early on, I remember everyone going crazy about him a couple of years ago. He was good enough to have caught the eye of PSV (and others) at some point when he was 18.

He's still very young (20). His discipline issues apparently have to do with women (he's married). He was also suspended from the national team for bypassing curfew with teammates in Panama. The media had a meal about this.

For those who understand Spanish, here is a tv special about him when he moved to PSV a few yrs ago:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXlRKO2Xzu8&feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5doLh0SKe0A&feature=related

random plays.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2ZmBh88ueg

He can play as winger/striker/attack-mid. I'd be more than happy to have him, specially on a year loan to see how it goes. The concerns would be adapting to a new country/language.. and the fact that he has a very small frame, will he adapt to the more physical league?. Hopefully he has matured by now as well :(

edit: Link is back up, the article author thinks Preki is still our manager...and the comments are mostly negative towards his personality (immaturity in handling fame/money).

edit: This article http://www.larepublica.pe/15-12-2010...eon-de-huanuco (http://www.larepublica.pe/15-12-2010/manco-jugaria-en-leon-de-huanuco) - mentions that he is also being looked by León de Huánuco, another 1st division Peruvian team, who will be playing in Copa Libertadores next season. His current team's manager has no plans for him in the team so Huanuco is also looking for a loan.

That's what klinsmann said. Christmas i don't care too much about, but he'd better be here before the january transfer window. apparently earl's got a bunch of players lined up, so it'd be good to have someone in to make a decision on all those and then actually go about signing up the ones he wants.

Although I wasn't planning on buying one, I'm surprised they didn't release the new red jersey yet. Would have made a great Christmas gift for a TFC fan.

Are they trying to move the old ones first?

I'm not sure how to interpret this... it seems like 3 million is peanuts for a TV contract for any North American sport, but at the same time its not like MLS is lighting the ratings world on fire either.

well, in TV land I would guess $20M is probably not much more than a bag of peanuts either and why wouldn'y MLS start with a higher suggestion than they'll probably get.. Maybe MLS has given FOX some assurances that more celebrity DPs will be coming in too?

If they get 20 million, it would do a lot towards improving the product on the field... Although they'd pocket that money for four years until the next CBA is up.

Toronto FC will open the 2011 Major League Soccer season on the road against expansion team Vancouver Whitecaps FC in one of the marquee matches of the league’s opening weekend. The teams will meet at Empire Field in Vancouver on Saturday, March 19. It will be the first time two Canadian clubs have faced each other in MLS.

Following the “First Kick” in Vancouver, Toronto will play their home opener at BMO Field on Saturday, March 26 against another expansion team, Portland Timbers. The kick off times for both matches will be announced at a later date.

It will be the third year in a row that Toronto FC has hosted an expansion team in the club’s Home Opener. Last season, Dwayne De Rosario scored two goals in a 2-1 win against Philadelphia Union, and in 2009 Seattle Sounders won 2-0 at BMO Field.

Major League Soccer announced Monday the 2011 Home Openers for all 18 clubs. The league’s 16th season will kick off on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 when Seattle Sounders FC host Los Angeles Galaxy at 9:30 p.m. ET.

All 18 clubs will take the field during the opening “First Kick” week as they embark on a 34-game, balanced regular season in which every club will face each of the other twice – once at home, once on the road. Ten teams will qualify for the MLS Cup Playoffs.

The full MLS schedule for 2011 will be announced in the new year.

Manco says no to 'leon de huanuco', runners up in the peruvian league.
looks like toronto is still on the radar.
i've seen him live a few times, incredible talent. with some discipline this kid could be great, a definite game breaker.
funny thing is, his late night partying with the peruvian national team also involved claudio pizarro on a couple of occasions, didn't stop him from being the top foreign scorer in bundesliga history.
a tough manager could make the difference, worth the gamble in my mind.
