It's because we have no management who has any real connections overseas.

well, Gilbert wasn't good enough to stick with even lower English league. let's not jump all over this until he actually proves to be good. though Man U and Arsenal youth product tend to do well in MLS (Zakuani, Nagamura, Kenny Cooper, John Thorrington, et al)

Why? Mo is gone. That's a statement based on nothing but your pessimism.

(1) TFC signs someone. "Why is Earl signing people? That should wait for the new coach & GM!"

(2) TFC doesn't sign someone. "Why isn't TFC signing that person?"

Look people, key signings aren't going to be made until the FO is sorted out, and Klinsmann said that we'll have a coach soon.

is Ricketts the greatest former Arsenal product to play in MLS????

If we're talking youth product, I'll go out on a limb and say yes.

If we're talking former players, then no.

I think we all are allowed a little pessimism after what we've seen the past few years arent' we? Regardless, I'm basing my assumption on the fact that we have half a roster, no coach or GM and just over a month till training camp begins. Can we assume that our roster will not be settled at that point?

ya I'm tryin to think of relatively youthful players who came out of the Arsenal system to MLS.

just checked and Paulo Nagamura was an Arsenal youth player.. I did not know that. Zakuani too. then there's Ryan Smith at KC.

Yes, especially if we're basing optimism on the fact one guy is gone. Everyone else from the regime he "built" is still in place and the same guy who hired him is having the final say on who's comig in.

We TFC fans have earned our cynicism. We'd be happy to give it up, so here's hoping.

Sadly I have to agree on all counts. Mo might be gone but Anselmi and co are still running the asylum. And it's unrealistic in the extreme to think we'll sign a full half of our roster in the next month AND appoint a coach and/or GM beforehand.

So right now, barring anything exceptional and totally unexpected, it does look like we'll be signing players up during training camp. Having said that, if we have the roster basically sorted by Charleston, and a coach in place to boot, then in the circumstances I'd be very happy with that! :D

Why does it look like we will be signing players in training camp? The season doesn't start for three months.
