On the eve of the deadline to pick up the 2011 options on contracts, it's become apparent that the Dynamo have informed Pat Onstad, Eddie Robinson, Richard Mulrooney, Ryan Cochrane, Joseph Ngwenya, Adrian Serioux, and Anthony Obodai that their 2011 options won't be picked up.
Judging from what I'm hearing on the grapevine, Dynamo fans should expect that most-if not all of those players- will not wear Orange next season. If they do return, they'll be playing at reduced salaries

i would take back serioux in a second

Last year I would have said don't get rid of him.

This year, we have 3 centre-halfs.

We need wingers. Serioux isn't a natural wide player, and Attakora is young and needs to play CB.

sorry, he's currently on 96k this year and with all the games we play, we need depth. don't forget the gold cup is this year too, and nana hopefully won't be here.

^ Also, this isn't really a slaughter. I'd point out that every player had peaked in development, everyone was 27 or over. 3 were under-30, the rest were over 30. A lot of them are on downward trends. And the U-30 players were marginal (judging from apps) at best.

hmmm looks like Houston is laying the groundwork to go from an MLS 1.0 team to an MLS 2.0 team....it's gonna be interesting to see who replaces them especially with their wanting of a big name DP

serioux was protected...

Probably fishing around for a deal after the draft and found Vancouver and TFC weren't interested.

Onstad was not looking sharp this year. time has finally caught up to him.

I thought I heard somewhere Onstad was pretty much accepting he was done and wanted to go straight into coaching and development.

Serioux has been considering retirement for some time. This might be it for him.

If Serioux could play half the games in a season the way he's capable of playing I would take him at $80,000 in a heartbeat.

serious can also play FB...

though seriously, what is his natural position? DM? CB? FB?

ryan cochrane and eddie robinson should provide good depth. good MLS experience

IIRC, he's already involved with the CSA, one of the youth teams. And I hear he's going to be one of the keepers' coaches in the Whitecaps set up.

Onstad and Serioux would be good pick ups for Vancouver or Portland.

His natural position is DM.

I wouldn't mind him back here....gives us cover at FB, CB, and DM

Ryan Cochrane, Eddie Robinson, and Mulrooney still have a career in MLS.

We'd do well to sign one of them.
